Picture this: A middle aged working mom of four, sitting in church when a sermon sparks a wild dream – to write Christian romance. I was always an avid reader but never a writer. Yet God’s nudge was clear, and my journey began with leap of faith. Should be easy, right? After all I’ve been reading romance novels since I was 13.

As a working mom of four rambunctious kids, carving out time was difficult. I dove all into My Book Therapy (now Novel Academy), a writing community developed by Susan May Warren. At the same time, I subscribed to Steeple Hill (now Love Inspired) and was determined to write for them.

Fast forward (or not so fast) fifteen years of writing conferences, writing books, numerous brainstorming sessions, and rejections. Writing isn’t for the faint of heart—it’s a journey paved in trusting God. He taught me to keep my eyes on him, not the setbacks. Though every year the dream seemed further away, I kept on.

Through it all I was surrounded by a family and friends that cheered me on. And wow, the writing community? Pure gold! I’ve been gifted with lifelong friends who have shared my sorrow over rejections and celebrated with the wins. We’ve laughed, cried and cheered each other on.

Now here I am fifteen years later, celebrating my debut novel A Family On His Doorstep, proof that God’s plan outshines our wildest dreams. Today, I get to celebrate one of my favorite verses. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” Ephesians 3:20 NIV
