Book Review

The Comeback Play is the eighth book in the Sweets Sports Kisses series. This is a multi-author series with each book centering around a different sport, but all connected through the Play It Forward organization. As such, they can be read in any order or as standalones. 

Talk about ending this series on a high note--- this one certainly did just that! Drake and Lyla had a super cute meeting and undeniable chemistry, so she gives him her number... and he doesn't call. And when he shows up at her workplace- Play It Forward- to become a mentor and change his image, it seems like he doesn't remember her. I don't want to give too much away, but I'll just say that Drake had a good reason for not calling (and his need for good PR) that honestly could have made him unlikable in the beginning... but it was through this that we got to see his growth throughout the story. And he wasn't the only one, Lyla also had her own challenges that she needed to grow from throughout the story as well. I couldn't help but root for both of them. And that initial chemistry? Yeah, it didn't disappear either. These two were really sweet together and I found this to be a really cute addition to this fun series. 

The Comeback Play is a closed-door romance with kisses only. It does have very minimal minor language and mentions of alcohol abuse.
