Romancing My Grumpy Goalie by Cindy Ray Hale: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

A single mom. Her son’s mentor. They didn’t expect sparks to fly.

Lucas

Playing for the Arsenal was my dream, but after an injury, I’m stuck in the small town of Maple Creek as a goalie for a no-name team.

As a way to return to the Arsenal, I agree to mentor a troubled kid.

But when my mentee’s beautiful mom comes around, my plans fall into question.

Anabelle

As a single mom, I have to think positive.

My boutique will be successful, and my ten-year-old son will thrive, despite his father's move across the country.

I land him a soccer mentorship to cheer him up.

Only his mentor is the biggest grump, even if he is easy on the eyes . . .

Can Anabelle’s sunshine pierce through Lucas’s storm clouds, or will his gruff exterior ruin everything?

Romancing The Grumpy Goalie, a sweet single mom romcom, is book 5of the Sweet Sports Kisses multi-author series—a sweet/clean romcom sports collection set across the U.S. Each story is connected through the Play It Forward organization, bringing heartwarming romance, humor, and just the right amount of competition. If you’re looking for no-spice, kisses only with the perfect amount of swoon, then this series is for you!

The Author

Cindy Ray Hale loves to write romcoms set in small towns and has been writing and publishing books since 2012, all the while, laughing at her own funny stories. She is married to the sweetest guy and has a blended family with him, consisting of seven kids.

She loves nerding out on video games, creating book covers, and drinking too much caffeine. When she can find a moment, she loves to sing and play the piano and often includes acting and singing somewhere in her stories.

She was born and raised in the hills of Tennessee in a large crazy family and as an adult, has moved all over the United States. She's finally settled down in a small town in the mountains of western Virginia where she loves to go hiking, boating, and dig in her garden.

Book Review

Romancing My Grumpy Goalie is the fifth book in the Sweet Sports Kisses series. This is multi-author series with each book featuring a different sport, but all connected through the Play It Forward organization in some way. As such, they can all be enjoyed in any order or as standalones.

This was another super cute addition to the Sweet Sports Kisses series! A grumpy soccer goalie + a single mom + small town gossip? What could be more fun than that? Right away, I absolutely adored Lucas and Annabelle (and Nolan too). Lucas definitely had his grump tendencies, but he also had such a big heart too. As much as I loved the chemistry between him and Annabelle (which truly was great!), it was definitely how he stepped in to be there for Nolan that made me enjoy the story all that much more. It was just a really sweet dynamic between all three of them and had so much heart. There were also plenty of little mishaps throughout that also kept me smiling, and I just found myself enjoying their story from start to finish. Like the other books in the series, this was a pretty quick read, but I found it to be just the perfect bite-sized soccer romance!

Romancing My Grumpy Goalie is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
