Red Flag, Green Light by Camilla Evergreen: Book Review

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

The Book

Mars Rogue is my next-door neighbor, the town's baddest boy, and now my boss.

In exchange for my no longer needing to retrieve my own groceries ever again, I'm helping a borderline criminal plan a "Flag Day festival" for the town of Bandera, but mostly for his brother. Apparently.

No, I don't understand what's going on either.

All I know is that Mars sure makes a lot of carrot cake for someone considered "dangerous." And he's absolutely not even a little bit hot.

Surely with danger in question, that hotness factor won't change, right?

Wrong.

As a dark romance girlie, all I want is someone willing to paint the town red for me. Then take pictures of it. So I don't have to leave my house.

And, well, Mars seems more than willing to oblige me on all accounts.

So long as I do as he says.

Red Flag, Green Light is a closed-door romantic comedy with plenty of swoon and sizzle, but none of the spice. Welcome to another novel in the ever-growing EverStorm universe, featuring a 100% consensually-written story with he falls first, next-door neighbors, and boss/employee fun!

The Author

Camilla Evergreen is an alias of USA Today bestselling author Anne Stryker. Originally intended as a dumping ground for all things lacking fantasy, Camilla/Anne came to the shocking discovery that writing sarcastic, chaotic romcoms full of quippy heroines and adoring heroes has a kick to it.

Camilla/Anne’s neurodivergent tendencies leave her hyperfocused on writing sweet and sassy romances from dawn till dusk and lending whatever her current creative obsessions are to her characters. From arranged marriages to falling for the boss, there’s lots of love to go around.

Book Review

Red Flag, Green Light is part of the Red Flags and Rogue Brothers duology from Camilla Evergreen and Storm Sterling. While these are interconnected, and I believe have some crossover in the timeline, it could be enjoyed as a standalone as well.

I'll be honest, I'm not really a dark romance girlie. At all. I tend to try to steer clear of the red flags--- green flags are preferred all the way here... and yet, once again, Camilla Evergreen has managed to create a story that definitely has all those red flags that you'd expect in a dark romance (I mean, he literally has cameras pointed at her house!)... and yet, it still also manages to somehow come across as sweet too. Definitely some darker elements, but not too dark for my tender sweet romancing loving heart. I have no clue how she manages to pull it off so well, and yet... here we are once again. (That being said, it's still not going to be for everyone, so be sure to check out the author's note for content to decide if it's the right choice for you.) Mars and Ceres certainly didn't have your typical love story, but I adored the two of them together just the same. Red flags aside, he still has such a soft heart for the people he cares about... and Ceres certainly fits that bill. As someone who also struggles with agoraphobia, I did appreciate that aspect of the story as well.

Red Flag, Green Light is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language. There is some innuendo/mentions of sex... and again, all the red flags!
