Welcome to Weldon, Kentucky, where no one can keep a secret forever.

The atmosphere in the community creates a deep yearning in Carson, and he thinks Kentucky is the perfect place for a new beginning. Carson hopes the country life will lead to his emotional healing from PTSD.
While Carson is having lunch at the local diner with Sparky Compton, a young doctor who’s captured his heart, Virginia Willoughby collapses. Sparky springs into action, but Carson struggles to maintain control of his emotions. Mrs. Willoughby’s daughter, Emma Baker arrives, and the magnetic pull of Emma’s gaze confuses Carson. She reminds him of someone, but who? Later, Emma wonders why she can’t stop thinking about the mysterious stranger when her heart belongs to pastor Luke Davis.
But there are secrets in the small town—and they will impact both Carson and Emma.

About the Author

Shelia Stovall is an author, speaker, and the Director of a small-town library in southern Kentucky. Her first Weldon novel, Every Window Filled with Light, won the 2022 Angel Book Award in the contemporary women's fiction category and was a double finalist for a Selah award in 2022, and her second Weldon novel, Every Day Filled with Hope, was a finalist for a Selah award and a Carol award in 2023.
It tickles her to see shocked expressions when folks learn she's traveling to Africa—again. She's the worst missionary ever, but God continues to send her to the ends of the earth as He attempts to mold her into something useful.
Shelia is a country girl who relishes eating a bologna sandwich at a country store just as much as savoring an elegant meal in a posh restaurant.
Shelia and her husband, Michael, live on a farm, and she enjoys taking daily rambles to the creek with their four dogs. Spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, is her all-time favorite thing. The only hobby Shelia loves more than reading uplifting stories of hope is writing them.

Inspiration and Sensitivity When Dealing with Difficult Topics
By Shelia Stovall
Thank you for inviting me to share the inspirations for my novels and how I deal with difficult topics.
For me, inspiration comes from something I or someone I know has experienced. It might be something small that sticks in my memory and later resurfaces as I’m writing a scene. For example, I’m a librarian and years ago when closing the library, I discovered a young girl hiding under the library’s stairwell because she didn’t want to go home. In Every Window Filled with Light, Librarian Emma Baker, a young widow, is struggling with grief and anger. She believes her dream to build a family is impossible. Then she discovers twelve-year-old Harley, abandoned by her drug-addict mother, hiding in the library. Emma becomes Harley's foster parent and healing begins.
My latest novel, Every Life Filled with Purpose took a turn I didn’t expect when someone I know submitted D.N.A. to Ancestry.com and made some interesting discoveries. I don’t want to spoil the story, but there are some surprising revelations in the book. I started the novel, thinking it would be a continuation of Emma Baker’s and Luke Davis’s romance, and it is, but the advancement in their relationship ended up being a subplot. Every Life Filled with Purpose is Carson William’s story, and it’s about a family coming together and Carson discovering where he belongs and his true purpose.
I write about difficult topics because sadly, we live in a dark world, but for Christians, there’s also light and hope. To be real, my characters must suffer, as we suffer, and I want the readers to go on an emotional journey of healing with the hero. However, I also want to protect the reader, therefore, I don’t write graphic, gritty details. Years ago, I grabbed a best-selling novel in the airport and the first chapter described the brutal assault of a young girl in detail. After the first two pages, I closed the book and had it not been for a three-hour flight delay, I wouldn’t have opened the book again. However, due to my boredom, I gave the book a second chance, but I skipped over the gory details. That experience taught me not to share too much gritty information for my gentle reader.
In my latest novel, Every Life Filled with Purpose, Luke suffers from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). I can’t give you the details of the incident that caused Luke’s PTSD without spoiling the story, but I handle it very carefully. I also balance heavy scenes by immediately following with a humorous scene. I want the reader to be engaged emotionally, but I want the emotions to be balanced. One minute, the reader might be close to tears, and the next scene laughing.
I never give the main character everything they want because no one gets a perfect life, and I want my characters and the story to be believable.
The settings of all my stories are small towns because that’s what I know. I love how each small community has a local diner and there always seems to be a group of old men who enjoy breakfasting together. I love church women who serve, but let’s face it, sometimes they struggle with gossip. And I love how small town residents come together when tragedy strikes, and tragedy strikes in all my novels.
I hope you’ll consider reading my new novel, Every Life Filled with Purpose. It’s the third book in the Weldon Series, but it stands alone.
Thank you for the opportunity to tell you a little bit about the inspiration for my novels and how I handle difficult topics with sensitivity and grace.
