He has everything … except what he wants most.

Rory is a wildly successful contractor with all the right connections. He has everything, except the woman who sees past his missing foot. If only the tiny redhead he’s insanely attracted to would go on a date with him, it could work, but Vi refuses.

Licensed massage therapist Vi Summers needs her childhood home remodeled, and Rory Spence is the perfect man for the job. Only he’s the last person she wants to work with. Despite Rory’s reputation as a flirt, his tender attention to getting her house right helps Vi see into his heart. Too bad her past mistakes prevent a future relationship.

Drawn together like magnets, they navigate trouble with illegal squatters, family expectations, and fire. Will they finally be honest with each other, or will their secrets tear them apart?

Book Review

Lovin' on Red is the second book in the Romance in Valiant series. Though I enjoyed the first one and would recommend it as well, I do think this could be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well.

Don't let the cover fool you into thinking that this is going to be just a lighthearted romance... because this story truly is so much more than that. Both Rory and Vi are characters who have had difficult pasts that they are still healing from in many ways. I appreciate that the author isn't afraid to take on difficult topics, but does so with grace and sensitivity, keeping it realistic, but also not too heavy. (That being said, do be aware that topics like loss of limb and sexual abuse are discussed--without major detail-- and could be difficult for some readers.) These aren't perfect characters and sometimes they made decisions that could be a little frustrating, but they were characters that felt very real and had me rooting for them to get their happily ever after in the end. I loved seeing them grow as the story went on. The romance was sweet, and I found that I really enjoyed these two together.

If you are looking for a beautifully written Christian romance with genuine and imperfect characters, this is absolutely one you won't want to miss.

  5. Hi, Randi,
I'm very appreciative of your reviews and your "take" on my writing. (Up until now, I wasn't sure I was supposed to comment.) Stories appeal to people on different levels, but I'm especially thankful that you understand my style. Yes, lighthearted is good and I love it, but if it's not balanced with depth, it comes across fluffy. I honor your role as a military wife. You're one of my heroes.
