Honeysuckle Breeze by B.R. Goodwin: Book Review

*Book received for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

Would you rather know what your best friend’s lips feel like against yours but get ghosted immediately after… or never even taste the possibility of forever?

What could be worse than inconveniently falling for your long-distance best friend? How ‘bout sharing an unexpected, but magical, Christmas kiss with him, then being ghosted ever after…

It's been three months since Caroline has spoken to Griffin Lovett—since he leaned in, gave her the kiss of her life, then returned to his life across the country without another word. After praying through the heartbreak, then pouring her emotions into glitter-filled crafts, Caroline is properly distracted with spring wedding plans for her sister, spending time with her siblings, and enjoying her job as Sugartree Elementary’s newest kindergarten teacher. She’s nearly over the event.

In fact, she barely, BARELY, even thinks about how special Griffin Lovett made her feel or how much she misses their easy conversations. And she definitely does NOT daydream about how impossibly soft his lips felt against hers. But when Griffin unexpectedly returns to Sugartree and enrolls his son in Caroline’s class, she’s forced to confront her best friend, and her very real feelings for him, every single day.

B.R. Goodwin is a Georgia native, married to her college sweetheart, and the mother of three wild animal children she adores.

When she isn’t writing Christian Fiction, she’s reading, hiking, bee-keeping, soccer mom-ing, or planning her family’s next big adventure while drinking copious amounts of tea & coffee. Above all else, the heartbeat of everything she does in life, friendship, and writing is with an eye to sharing the Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ with everyone she meets.

Honeysuckle Breeze is the second book in the Sugartree Romance series. While reading the first book might give you a little bit better idea of the family dynamics, I do believe this could be enjoyed just fine as a standalone as well. (That said, book one was great, and I'd still highly recommend it as well.)

Oh my goodness, this was such a sweet read. This story focuses on Caroline and Griffin's story. After sharing a Christmas kiss, Griffin disappears without a word... until he shows back up to town a few months later-- his son Theo being the newest kid in Caroline's kindergarten class. I loved how this story was broken into two alternating time frames--- but not in your typical manner. It's broken down to before the kiss... and after. I loved seeing the pre-kiss text exchanges, the everchanging phone nicknames and just how the dynamic changed between the two of them throughout the story. I couldn't get enough of the two of them... or Theo!

This story was truly the perfect blend of smalltown and family shenanigans to keep me laughing out loud with sweet romantic moments all with a great message of faith throughout... and I just adored everything about it. Seeing the other siblings' and hints at what could be coming in their respective stories also has me looking forward to the rest of the series even more... I cannot wait to spend more time with the whole crazy bunch!
