Cappuccino Mugs and Fire Fighter Hugs by Katie O’Connor: Book Review

*Book received for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

Drinda McKenzie is struggling to stay afloat. She's just bought into in the famous Coffee Loft franchise. People in Cherry Lake are reluctant to take a risk on her shop and if they don't start coming by, she'll lose her life savings. Her favorite customer is a kindly matchmaker who thinks her grandson is the perfect man for Drinda. Too bad an outgoing guy like Ford would never be interested in a wall flower like her. Besides, he's her landlord and she's hiding a puppy in her no-pets-allowed suite.

Ford Langhammer is busy enough as it is, but when his grandmother keeps thrusting the lovely Drinda into his life, he's tempted to fall for her matchmaking schemes except he's a little wary of women after his last disastrous relationship. When his boss assigns him to help with Cherry Lake's Valentine's Ball, he's stuck in close proximity with Drinda. She's a wonderful woman, but after a brief flare of attraction, she's back away like she's up to something.

Will the magic of love join forces with an inveterate matchmaker and bring Ford and Drinda together, or will their differences over her wee puppy make them died in the wool enemies forever?

Best selling romance author Katie O’Connor lives in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. She married her high school sweetheart and is living her happily ever after. She is the mother of two grown daughters and is extremely proud of her five grandchildren.

Katie’s career path has been long and twisted, with most of her life devoted to her family. She’s been a waitress, chambermaid, cashier, store manager, as well as a lab and X-ray technician. She is an avid quilter and crafter.

She’s dabbled in writing since high school because something drives her to create stories. She swears it’s impossible for her NOT to write. Unsatisfied with one genre, Katie writes contemporary romance, erotic romance, fantasy/paranormal romance and erotica. Recently, she’s crafted her first cozy mystery with the intention of publishing a cozy mystery series.

She believes in all things magical; including dragons, fairies, UFOs, ghosts, and house pixies. But most of all she believes in love, romance and hope.

Cappuccino Mugs and Fire Fighter Hugs is part of the Coffee Loft series. This is a multi-author series with all books centered around or featuring a Coffee Loft shop, but all books can be enjoyed as standalones with no confusion.

This book was as sweet and cozy as its name suggested! First of all, I enjoy a meddling grandma, so Grammie L. certainly added in that fun element for me--- but honestly, these two didn't need all that much help to start. They were definite opposites in many ways, but they seemed to balance each other well... and who doesn't enjoy a good opposites attract story? Throw in a cute dog to add just a smidge of drama and this made for quite the enjoyable Valentines romance! This is definitely one you'll want to have a snack with... all the dessert talk made me hungry. I also appreciated the recipes at the end too! While this was a very quick read, I didn't find myself feeling like it had been rushed or that anything was missing. It was just the perfect bite-sized sweet romance.

Cappuccino Mugs and Fire Fighter Hugs is a closed-door romance with kisses only.
