Surviving Christmas by Remi Carrington: Book Review

*Book received for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

Jack Hastings is not looking forward to spending Christmas with his messed-up family. His goal is survival.
But plans change when he wrecks his car, sprains his ankle, and ends up stranded on a Texas ranch. Sofie, who rescued him off the side of the road, is beautiful and engaging, but her teen sister and imposing dad make it hard to spend time alone with her.
And he wants to.

It’s Sofie’s job to make Christmas merry.
Every year, Sofie De Los Santos drives back to the Rocking Double Heart ranch where she grew up and spends the holidays making memories with her dad and sister.
But when she almost hits a stranded stranger with her car, he becomes part of her very-merry project.
Her dad might not be too keen on her bringing home a random guy. But Jack is quite charming and good-looking. It’s funny to see such a city guy on the ranch, but he meshes well with her family. Even her dad seems to like him, which is a first.
Maybe it’s the magic of the season, the undeniable attraction, or the stolen kisses in the barn, but by the end of the week, she’s head over heels for Jack.
And when they go home, he promises to call, but he doesn’t.
It was silly to think that their spark would survive…

Remi Carrington is the figment of Pamela Humphrey's imagination. She loves romance & chocolate, enjoys disappearing into a delicious book, and considers people-watching a sport. She was born in the pages of the novel Just You and then grew into an alter ego.

She writes sweet romance set in Texas. Her new series, Bluebonnets & Billionaires, will launch in Jan 2019. Her books are part of the Phrey Press imprint.

If you're one of those people that absolutely despises insta-love... well, this book might not be your cup of tea.

I am not one of those people.

Sofie and Jack fall hard and fast... and I absolutely adored it! First of all, that meet cute!? So good! With a roadside rescue and spending the holidays with a family of strangers, this story had all the makings of a Hallmark-like love story that I couldn't get enough of. Yes, the romance is super-fast, but it was done amazingly well and felt right for these characters. Their chemistry was so perfect. I love that they even find themselves questioning the speed of their connection themselves and wondering if it's all just the holidays at play. There were some tougher topics taken on, especially with Jack's family situation, but it was balanced well with the humor and holiday cheer to make this a super fun read.

As much as I loved Sofie and Jack, I enjoyed the side characters almost as much... even the feline variety. Hannah was so unique and had me laughing out loud. I really hope to see more of her in future books. We are also giving just a little preview of the next book in the upcoming Rocking Double Heart Ranch Series... and it certainly has me looking forward to that too! I cannot wait!

Surviving Christmas is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
