Rent Yourself an Elf by Savannah Scott: Book Review

*Book received for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

She’s not feeling the holiday spirit. Maybe all she needs is to rent herself an elf.

It's Christmas, and I should be full of cheer, but I'm having a hard time mustering the holiday spirit. That was always Grams' role. She loved Christmas so much she talked my parents into naming me Noelle. Yeah, Noelle Furst. Picture the boys in elementary school having a heyday with my name. But I didn't care. I knew Gram picked it for me, and I wore it proudly.

When Grams passed two years ago, she left me this house. I'm a lot of things, but a handywoman isn't one of them. And there's a ton of work to be done.

My big plan? Ignore Christmas this year. In only one month I can move into a new year and put my painful memories back in a box along with all the decorations. But my friends have other ideas.

When I open my front door and look up, there's a very muscular, very not-an-elf looking man in a Santa hat smiling a stocking-curling smile at me. He's holding a toolbox.
He says, "Hi, I'm your elf," and with those four short words, I'm rethinking my whole stance on this holiday.

Rent Yourself an Elf is a closed-door, fake-dating romcom novella. It's just the quick, sweet read you need during your holidays.

Savannah Scott loves writing happily-ever-after romcoms with scenes where kisses make you melt. Her characters feel like long lost friends, and the settings make you want to take off on a road trip to visit.

You will smile. You will laugh. Yes. You will need coffee because you stayed up past your bedtime reading. Sorry, not sorry.

If you can’t find Savannah, she’s probably hiding with a book, dancing Zumba, or going a little crazy being the fun carpool mom who cranks the tunes and always goes through the drive-thru for copious amounts of sugar and fat on the way home from school.

(Can you keep a secret? I thought so. Savannah also writes as Patty H Scott, which is the Clark Kent to her Superman. If you like clean romance, check out Patty's books.)

Oh my goodness, what a cute read! Right from the start, this one absolutely drew me in. And from the start, I really mean from the moment I read the title! I knew this one was going to be at the top of my TBR! I loved the whole idea behind it... and thankfully, once I started reading, it absolutely did not disappoint. It had all of the chemistry and the humor that I have come to expect when I pick up a Savannah Scott book... plus all the added Christmas cheer that I adore. Noelle and Liam were the cutest together... I adored their immediate connection and found myself rooting for them. Their friends/family also added so much to the story... I adored those interactions almost as much as I enjoyed them together. Almost.

This was a super quick read. I was able to finish it in just one sitting... but despite its shorter length, it really didn't feel that short. I felt like I still got all of those sweet and laugh out loud moments I wanted and the story felt complete and not rushed to me at all. It was just the perfect bit of holiday cheer for this busy time of year.

Rent Yourself an Elf is a closed-door romance with kisses only and no language.
