Be the Sunshine: Q&A with Sunshine Rodgers + Giveaway

About the Book

Book: Be The Sunshine

Author: Sunshine Rodgers

Genre: Christian Nonfiction

Release Date: August 26, 2022

The one difficulty with having the name Sunshine is that people expect me to be…. well, sunshine all the time.

I have learned over time to embrace the Sunshine-ness that is my name. Yes, I may not always be joyful or exuberant all the time, but I have learned that if I rely on my friends, my family, and my faith, I can conquer each day head-on and live every moment with an expectation of goodness.

And that’s what I wanted to share in this book, Be The Sunshine. It’s not a book about how to be happy or seven ways to stay positive. These pages are about being yourself, showing the world your true colors, and being mindful of the moment. These chapters contain personal stories so that we all can experience love and joy for ourselves as well as shining that light on those around us!

So, just follow my voice. When it comes to being the sunshine, well, I know the way!

Part 5 answers the question “Why do we not help?” (the excuses we make and the fears we create)

87 Bible verses were used representing 9 different Translations for clarity, easy to understand passages and relatable terminology. I interviewed 6 Christian leaders and mentors who add their personal testimonies to this piece.

Author Interview

Can you share 5 random facts about you that we will not find in your bio?

The below fun facts about me are taken from the Introduction of my Nonfiction book Be The Sunshine.

  • I jokingly tell people I have a twin sister named Storm (and they actually believe me!).
  • My real name is Sunshine.
  • There are a ton of Sunshine songs out there! And every so often, I feel like my life is a Musical because I will be introduced to a stranger who will then proceed to sing to me (likely off-key) a sunshine song.
  • My personal favorite sunshine song is Steal my Sunshine though I hope no one does literally steal me. And what’s the deal with the song, Walking on Sunshine? I am not about to let anyone walk all over me!
  • My middle name also means Light!

If you had to describe your main character(s) in just three words, what would they be?

Be The Sunshine is a Nonfiction about my personal story… so 3 words to describe me are: Bubbly. Light. Positive.

What was the most challenging part of bringing this story to life?

I conducted plenty of research when writing Be The Sunshine. 87 Bible verses were used representing 9 different Translations for clarity, easy to understand passages and relatable terminology.

I also interviewed 6 Christian Leaders and Mentors who add their personal testimonies to this piece. Hearing these amazing stories were so inspiring to me!

What do you hope readers will take away from the book?

Be The Sunshine is a call to action! We want to make a positive difference in our families, our community and out in our world!

At the end of the book, I encourage my readers to tell me how they have blessed someone to use the Hashtag: #BeTheSunshine and to tag me so that I may repost on my site.

The message of Be The Sunshine is all about spreading the love and getting involved….one act of kindness at a time!
