Danielle Grandinetti is an inspirational romance author fueled by tea and books, and the occasional nature walk. A 2023 Finalist in the FHLCW Reader’s Choice Award, she has also won the UNW Distinguished Faith in Writing Award and the CROW National Excellence in Story Telling Award. Welcome, Danielle! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and giving my readers a chance to get to know you and your new book A Father for Her Boys.
I like to start these interviews the same way, with something fun to break the ice. Can you share 5 random facts about you that we will not find in your bio?
1. I’m vertically challenged and am barely over five feet tall
2. My favorite cuisine is Italian or Mexican because I love spicy food
3. I taught intercultural communication as an adjunct professor for several years
4. I’ve traveled to countries on four continents, but have only lived in two US states
5. I’m a second generation Italian-American and the granddaughter of Swedish/Dutch dairy farmers
When did you first discover you had a passion for writing?
In 3rd grade, I wrote my first short story and haven’t stopped writing stories since.
This is your sixth book published, but your first with Love Inspired and your first contemporary, how was the process different from those previous historical stories?
The writing process itself was similar, though with less historical fact checking. The challenging part was remembering that my characters could use their cell phones and cook up something in the microwave.
If you had to describe your main character(s) in this story in just three words each, what would they be?
Sofia is loving, organized, and other-centered
Nathaniel is compassionate, determined, and self-less
Can you tell us a little bit more about A Father for Her Boys?
A Father for Her Boys is a story of love and overcoming loss. Set against the backdrop of gardening and flowers, it shows examples of renewal and growth, and that God can make all things new.
What was the most challenging part of bringing this story to life? The most rewarding?
The most challenging was to portray grief in a true way while still bringing light and hope into the story. Which also made it the most rewarding. And probably the most emotional part of writing this story.
What do you hope readers will take away from the book?
My prayer is that readers will be infused with hope after reading A Father for Her Boys. No matter what trials, loss, or grief a person faces, God loves you and walks with you through the valley.
