Have you ever heard the saying, "when we make plans, God laughs"?
Whether you've heard it or not, chances are most of us have lived it in one way or another. It might be a small plan that doesn't work out... or it could be a huge life changing plan that goes awry... but either way we've all been there when the best laid plans seem to fall apart.
While that's certainly never something we enjoy going through at the moment, once we're on the other side we can so often look back and realize that we ended up right where God intended us to be all along... and His plans are so much greater than any that we could have ever imagined.
This is one of the messages we can learn from the new movie coming to Pure Flix "Sun Moon". Take a look:
Kelsey is running from failure, heartbreak and humiliation. In an attempt to understand God’s purpose for her life, she goes to Taiwan to teach English. Will her leap of faith pay off?
I was recently given the chance to check out this new movie before it's Pure Flix debut... and I absolutely adored it! The movie opens with Kelsey being left at the altar and dealing with the small town talk that follows. When missionaries from Taiwan make a visit to her church, she sees the oppurtunity to get away from it all and start fresh... so she takes a huge leap of faith in going to Taiwan to teach English when she herself doesn't speak their language. This certainly leads to some awkward and humourous moments throughout, but there was also a whole lot of heart too. There are many times throughgout the movie where the students are speaking their language, and no translation or subtitles are given as is often the case in movies. I wasn't sure about that at first, but ultimately it didn't really matter and actually helped me watching the movie to step into Kelsey's shoes a little bit more.
“Sun Moon” is a touching reminder that God works through all the circumstances in our life... even the circumstances, or perhaps especially the circumstances, that we didn't even see coming. The circumstances that we fear will break us. It is a beautiful fish out of water, love story that reminds us that when things don’t go according to our own plans, we can trust in God’s plans for us to be even better!
If you're looking for a great faith-filled film to watch, Sun Moon is a great option.
