Crystal Langston's plan was perfect: go to her 20th college class reunion to prove her divorce from her abusive ex-husband, NFL player, Dante Green, didn't break her. Her life was thriving outside of his shadow. Though it's been over a year since their divorce, Dante makes a huge announcement during their reunion mixer. His latest stunt results in his death.

And Crystal is the number one suspect!

Marcel Singleton recently launched his political campaign for Houston's District Attorney. Now that his childhood friend is no longer tied to Dante, he attends their class reunion with one goal in mind: to finally tell Crystal how he feels about her. What he didn't expect was that he'd be representing her in a murder case against her ex-husband.

Crystal's life is going up in flames -- fast!

Will Marcel's feelings for Crystal cloud his judgment? How will his involvement with a murder suspect affect his campaign?

And if Crystal is innocent, will the real murderer come for her next?

About the Author

Natasha D. Frazier

Natasha D. Frazier fell in love with love around the age of twelve because of artists like Babyface, Boys II Men, Whitney Houston, and New Edition. Around sixteen when her mother purchased a romance novel and left it lying around the house untouched, Natasha read it and a spark for the written word had been ignited.

Natasha believes that writing is one of her purposes and contributions to the world. She feels accomplished when she can get a few words written and like blah when life gets in the way. Her hope is that at the end of every novel, readers will feel like they’ve been wrapped in a cozy blanket with a mug of their favorite coffee/tea/warm drink. When she isn’t reading or writing, she is likely watching movies with her family. Natasha resides in Richmond, TX with her husband, Eddie Frazier, Jr. and their three children, Eden, Ethan, and Emilyn. Her greatest joy and commitment is to her family who she hopes to inspire above all else. One of her many mottos in life is: Faith removes limitations. Natasha and her family attend Parkway Fellowship in Richmond, TX, where she volunteers as a small group leader for elementary students. Natasha is also a member of the Houston Area Alumni Chapter of Jackson State University and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Author Interview

Welcome, Natasha! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions and allowing my readers a chance to get to know you and your new book The Reunion.

I like to start these interviews the same way, with something fun to break the ice. Can
you share 5 random facts about you that we will not find in your bio?

1. I played the flute in grade school.
2. And speaking of playing the flute, a friend and I performed at a wedding, playing the bride’s traditional processional song.
3. I love superhero movies, specifically Marvel, but never read any of the comics.
4. I love working out, specifically Les Mills workouts.
5. I collect coffee mugs. I should stop because I’m practically out of space, but I can’t help myself when I travel.

When did you first discover you had a passion for writing?

College. However, I despised word count thresholds. Still do. And that little fact probably hindered me for a while. There was a brief moment in college when I considered changing my major to English to pursue a writing career, but nothing came of it. I stayed on the path to earn a degree in accounting.

You have written many romance novels in the past, but The Reunion is your first romantic suspense. What inspired you to take on the new genre?

I wanted to stretch myself as a writer plus I wanted to give a kick to my stories. The whole idea of writing romantic suspense played in my mind for a while, but I was already in the middle of writing the McCall family series so I placed the idea on the backburner. I’m glad I did it because I’ve enjoyed the journey.

How was the process different for this book compared to your others?

I read quite a few romantic suspense novels before starting and while writing The Reunion, which is a genre I didn’t read much of before. While writing, I constantly had to think about how to keep the suspense thread moving alongside the romance plot. Since I primarily write romance, it was easy to slip out of the suspense and focus on the romance from time to time. However, my editor helped me tighten it up.

What was the most challenging part of bringing this story to life? The most rewarding?

With romantic suspense, it was almost like combining two stories into one because both storylines could have happened independently of the other. However, the suspense fuels the romance, which I loved. I adore second-chance romance tropes and bringing the characters together, even under not-so-good circumstances, is such a win for me.

Can you tell us a little bit more about The Reunion?

Sure! The idea for the story stemmed from a bunch of what-if thoughts about my own twentieth high-school reunion activities that took place October 2022. I had another plot in mind for the characters, but didn’t get it to work out. Then comes the facebook notification about posts in my high school class group and my mind started churning.

The title for the story represents the actual college reunion, the reunion between Crystal and her ex-husband, and the reunion between Crystal and her love interest, Marcel, who is her childhood best friend.

Crystal survived an abusive marriage and planned to attend the reunion class mixer to prove that she was doing well despite everything that happened between her and her ex-husband, NFL star, Dante Green. However, nothing worked in her favor because he is murdered and she’s to blame because she’s the last person who saw him alive.

Marcel is a criminal attorney and now district attorney candidate, who also went to college with Crysal and Dante. However, he attends the reunion with hopes of finally telling Crystal how he’s felt about her. His plans are thwarted because of Dante’s murder. He chooses to defend Crystal, but not only does representing her could cause issues for his campaign, he falls harder for her in the process.

What do you hope readers will take away from the book?

God is faithful and your circumstances have no impact on who God is. Crystal’s ending is not everyone’s ending, and although things may not always work out the way we plan or think they should, keep the faith.

Thank you again for taking the time to answer these questions. Before you go, are there any other projects you are currently working on that you can share?

Thank you for having me. Book 2 in the Langston sisters series titled, The Wrong Seatwill be released on April 6, 2023. In The Reunion, we briefly meet Ava, but she is working out of the country, when she returns home, unfortunately trouble awaits.

I’m super excited about it and can’t wait for you all to read it.
