Harvest Moon by Denise Hunter: Book Review

**I received a complimentary copy for consideration. All thoughts are my own.

She thought he was arrogant. He thought her walls would never come down. Then they fell in love.

Forever walking the line between passion and conflict, Laurel and Gavin’s relationship ended in divorce after years of miscommunication and unmet expectations. Now pursuing their own separate lives and careers, the two are content . . . though not completely happy.

When their best friends, Mike and Mallory, are killed in a plane crash, Laurel and Gavin are stunned to learn they’ve been named guardians of their friends’ young daughter, Emma. Putting their differences aside, the estranged couple search for a suitable guardian as they care for Emma and manage Mike and Mallory’s apple orchard.

Soon tempers flare—as does the passion they both remember so well. And Laurel and Gavin find themselves working through their past—their mistakes, their miscommunications, and ultimately the tragedy that ended their marriage.

Will the seeds of love, still growing inside them, thrive and flourish? Or will grief and regret strangle the feelings before they can fully blossom?

Denise Hunter sure knows how to write a romance! And if there is anything that her Riverbend romance series has shown me, it's that she can write those romances out of some pretty unusual and often difficult circumstances as well. Harvest Moon certainly is proof of that, as the story starts out with divorced couple Laurel and Gavin being brought back into each other's lives after the death of their friends leaves a toddler orphaned. Oh yes... it's a pretty weighty one, that's for sure!

Harvest Moon is the third book in this series, and this is one that I would certainly recommend reading in order. You might be able to enjoy the story as a standalone, but having read the previous books, we've already gotten to know Gavin a little bit and I think that certainly helped me to appreciate his story and this second chance all that much more. I'll admit, I've been waiting for him to get his happily ever after since book one and I was so happy with how his story turned out. It truly is a beautiful second chance love story, and one that is certainly going to stick with me for quite some time. I have enjoyed every book in this series... but this one might just be my favorite.

If you enjoy a good, clean romance (with some swoon-worthy kisses, I might add), this is certainly a series that you absolutely cannot miss.
