Day in and day out it seems that we are being bombarded with messages that tell us that our worth is based upon our career and the money we have. That if we work harder and harder, our lives will be so much better. These messages seem to prioritize what we do over everything else.
We live in a world that seems to be all about the hustle!
I don't know about you, but I'm not too fond of that message.
Yes, working hard is good. Having a side hustle in and of itself isn't a bad thing. But the trouble is it all too often takes over and we find ourselves missing out on the important things in life. We blink and our children have grown up, and it feels like we didn't even take the time to truly enjoy it.
An Unlikely Angel offers parents a reminder that we so desperately need. It is a movie for parents who are trying to do it all and need to know they aren’t alone on the journey. Take a look:
Synopsis: Janie is a workaholic who is falling apart at the thought of becoming a first-time mom. She whispers a small prayer for help and it's answered in a very unlikely way when an angel intervenes and fast forwards her life. Will her second chance change how she approaches life? Janie is lucky enough to be given a second chance, but will she change before it's too late?
I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this movie... but I can assure you I got so much more! This truly was a wonderfully done movie. It had such beautiful messages about second chances, prioritizing family and giving up control... but I found that it didn't come across at all as preachy. I think each and every one of us can relate to Janie in one way or another. Perhaps we find ourselves working too hard and missing out on family moments or perhaps we have a hard time with not being in control with all the aspects of our life, leaving us trying to do it all, all on our own. Boy, did I relate to that aspect! I found the story to be so good, and the actors really did a wonderful job of bringing it to life.
Sometimes we all need a reminder that there is nothing wrong with just getting back to the basics, and I hope that is something that those who watch this movie will take away!
