Top Tips To Update Your Look for Spring

Spring is drawing nearer, and here in the Midwest that means that you truly never know what you are going to get on any given day.

Will it be cold and rainy at 40 degrees? Will it be sunshine-y and warmer at 60? If we dress for cool weather in the morning will we be burning up by lunchtime? Oh yes, spring in the Midwest certainly can be quite the mystery.

So, how do we prepare our wardrobes for the unexpected? Here are a few simple ideas to get started:

Utilize Layers

Layers are everything in those in between seasons. Mornings and evenings tend to be much chillier than midday, so consider outfits that will allow you to add or remove layers as needed with the changing temperatures. Cardigans are an ideal option as they are lightweight, stylish and easy to pack along. You can always find cheap cardigans to match any budget, weather AND style too! Scarves can also be a great addition to add on those chilly days as well.

Shop Your Own Closet

There's no need to go out and buy a complete spring wardrobe... after all, the season won't last long, right? Buy a few key pieces and use mix and match your summer and winter wardrobes to create great new looks appropriate for the season. A summer dress with a fall sweater can be the perfect spring solution giving you new looks, without the huge investment.

Trade in the Boots

Perhaps it's just me, but I have found that what I have on my feet can make a big difference on how hot I get throughout the day. Tall boots for me are best left for colder winter days. For spring, I like to trade out those high boots for something a little cooler such as booties or flats. These give less coverage than boots, but offer a little more warmth than sandals. Aside from that, I love the look of a great skinny jean with a simple flat!

Choose Lighter Weight Fabrics

Flannel might look super cute, but there's a good chance that that favorite flannel top might leave you a little warm by the middle of the day. Instead, choosing lighter weight breathable fabrics can help! I personally prefer long sleeves even in spring, but opt away from heavy sweaters and flannels and lean towards looser, thinner options.

Don't Pack Up the Outerwear Just Yet

While it can be tempting to pack up all the outwear and embrace spring, we all know that the moment we do so cold weather will make a return... while it may be safe to pack up the heaviest winter coats and snow pants, not all women's outerwear is created equal so keep those lighter weight jackets, blazers and the like readily available just in case!

With these simple ideas, you can have a fantastic spring look that is both practical and fashionable. No matter your style, Prestarrs has you covered with great prices on cute fashions like those seen in this post and more all year long.
