Hi Jennifer! Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions
and giving my readers the chance to get to know you and your new book- Deadly
Connection a little bit better! I like to start these interviews
the same way with something fun to break the ice: can you share 5 random facts
about yourself that we will NOT find in your bio?
I still watch cartoons, even when I’m home alone. Scooby Doo is my
favorite.
The Princess Bride is my favorite movie. I’ve seen it so many
times I can quote it.
Purple is my favorite color.
I’ve never gotten a ticket.
I love unicorns and have since before they were popular.
Let’s talk writing! When did you first realize you had a passion and talent for
writing?
I started writing in 2015. My dad died in 2014 and I used reading
as my therapy. I decided to give writing a serious try. I started with a couple
of short stories. I found a contest for Love Inspired Suspense and that’s how I
wrote my first novel. I didn’t make it past the first stage of the contest but
I finished it and submitted it. It was rejected. That novel is now Hidden
Danger.
What drew you to the suspense genre?
I have always loved
mystery/suspense/thriller genre. I read tons of R.L. Stine’s Fear Street books
as a teen. I love trying to figure out whodunnit. Pulse pounding, seat
gripping, what’s gonna happen next thrills me.
In addition to writing, you are also a mom, wife and paralegal too. How do you
manage to fit it all in? What does that writing routine look like for you?
Honestly,
I don’t have a writing routine. I write when I can. For some reason I do my
best writing on my lunch break. I’ll write some after the kids go to bed or
while their doing their own thing. There have been a couple of times I’ve been
on a deadline and I’ve locked myself in my bedroom and let my husband handle
things. Or mom will watch the kids so I can get some writing done. It’s easier
now that my kids are older.
Can you tell us a little bit about Deadly
Connection?
It’s just another day at work for Quinn Matthews until Reid
Lucas enters her life. Reid gets information from his friend and mentor that
Quinn and her son, JJ, are in danger. Before Reid can learn more about what is
going on, his friend is killed, leaving Reid and Quinn clueless. They’re set on
a path to the truth and manage to find love along the way..
The official blurb does a better job of
explaining: Private Investigator, Reid Lucas, and his mentor, Joe Lockhart,
haven’t spoken in years, but when Joe wants to meet in a small-town diner,
Reid’s interest is piqued. Without explanation, Joe calls and tells Reid he has
five minutes to get waitress, Quinn Matthews, and her son out of the diner
before they’re kidnapped by the group of men about to walk through the diner’s
front door.
Quinn Matthews’ life is simple and safe, exactly how she likes it—until Reid
Lucas walks into the diner. Now, she and her son are running for their lives,
and she has no idea why. But when the father of her son shows up and dies
saving them, she realizes they all have one deadly connection: Joe Lockhart.
Now, she'll have to trust the mysterious private investigator to not only save
their lives but connect her past to her present so they can figure out who is
after them. And why.
As the danger escalates, unexpected feelings arise. Reid doesn't believe he's
worthy of Quinn's love--or God's. And Quinn is too worried about having her
heart broken again and the effect of having a new man in her son's life. Can
they let go of their preconceived notions of love and relationships, or are
they doomed to just let go of each other?
What do you hope readers will take away from the book?
That you are not too far
gone for God. God loves each of us despite our sins and our past.

are there any other projects you are currently working on that you can share?
I
have a contemporary romance Christmas novella, Giving Grace, releasing November
13, 2020. I have lots of story ideas and started novels but haven’t firmly
decided what I’ll be working on next. My dream goal is to have a novel
published with Love Inspired Suspense. So, I’ll be working towards that
definitely.
Quinn left Reid in the front room,
fiddling with the antennae on the television, while she got JJ ready for bed.
Once he was settled in, she made her way to the kitchen. She distinctly
remembered seeing Mrs. Stevenson put hot chocolate in one of the grocery sacks.
She made a cup for herself and one for
Reid, then took it to him. He was sitting on the couch.
“Thank you.” He took the cup she offered.
She sat on the opposite side of the couch
and pulled her legs up under her. A black-and-white Western movie was playing
on the television.
“Sorry.” He nodded at the TV. “It’s the
only channel I could get to come through.”
“This is perfect.” And she meant it.
“A fan of cowboys, huh?” He took a sip
from his mug.
He had no idea.
“I’m a fan of anything that’s not a cartoon.” She laughed. “Ah, mom life.”
“Yep. My life revolves around cartoons,
toys, dirt, and boogers. It’s nice to have some adult time.”
“Boogers?” He wrinkled his nose. The
action softened the rough planes of his face. He was quite handsome.
“You have no idea.” She shrugged.
He laughed. She liked the sound of his laugh. She took a drink, and the
chocolate slid down her throat, warming her from the inside out.
