The Trouble with Love by Toni Shiloh Title: The Trouble with Love
Series: Faith & Fortune #1
Author: Toni Shiloh
Release Date: May 26, 2020
Genre: Christian Chick Lit

I, Holiday Brown, have it all. A platinum record. Multi-million dollar home in Manhattan that I share with my two best friends. Life is looking fantastic until my roommate’s brother decides to bunk in our guestroom while his house gets renovated.

W. Emmett Bell has always been the bane of my existence. He’s annoying, stubborn, a know it all, and just might be the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid eyes on. But I refuse to fall for him. Then his sister’s threatened by a stalker and dynamics change. His unwavering faith isn’t quite as self-righteous as I’d always thought, and maybe he has a good side I’ve overlooked all these years.

Or maybe it’s all too much trouble.

The Trouble With Love is the first book in the Christian Chick Lit series: Faith & Fortune.

Hi Toni! Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions and giving my readers the chance to get to know you and your newest novel- The Trouble With Love- a little bit better. I always like to begin these interviews the same way with something fun… tell us 5 random facts about yourself that we WON’T find in your bio!

5 random facts? Hmm. I’m from the great state of Texas. I love country music. I’m a rabid Dallas Cowboys fan. I served six years in the Air Force. I’ve lost 29lbs (and counting) over the past year.

Let’s talk writing! When did your passion for writing begin, and when did you know it was something you wanted to pursue professionally?

After I left the Air Force, I decided to go to college and get my degree. It took me a few degree changes to finally decide on English. I’m a little slow on the uptake, but I quickly discovered my love of reading could earn me a degree. It was while I was taking Creative Writing that my love for story came out front and center and I begin to believe I could actually write and use that talent for God.

Before becoming a writer, you were in the Air Force. Thank you for your service! Being a military spouse, I know that that comes with a lot of interesting experiences and allows you to meet a wide variety of people. Do you find that has been helpful in creating stories and characters?

Most definitely! I’ve met so many people in my six years—quite a few I still keep in touch with. Serving shows you how different we all are but still connected in ways of relationships. I think that experience helped me see we all want the same things and that connects us more than our differences.

Can you tell us a little bit about The Trouble With Love?
Where to begin, lol? I first got the idea for the book and series because I was looking at cover art and I saw these 3 silhouettes that were just stunning. (Note: I didn’t use them for the final cover. I change my mind a lot. 😉) While I was looking at the stock photos, I asked myself what stories did those women have to tell. After some brainstorming, I came up with the series. I wanted the woman to be rich and Holiday Brown quickly told me she was a famous singer. Her father was famous and a serial dater—well, more like he’s been married more than she can count. Because of her father, she doesn’t trust the idea of love. Nothing in her years of fame told her true love existed. So of course I wanted to give her a happily ever after.

I love the character names in this story- they really stood out to me! I always find that to be quite the challenge, so I’m curious how you decide on names for your characters?
Well since all the ladies in this story are famous, I looked at some of the names famous people have given their children. They seem to be a little out there, so I brainstormed names that were a little quirky. 😉
What do you hope readers will take away from the book?

That no matter what our circumstances are—rich or poor, famous or not—we all need Jesus.

I have found that writers are so often some of the best readers too. If we were to take a look at your TBR, what might we find there?

So many books! I have about 20 books in various places in my room (night stand, bed footboard, window seat) and a backlog on my Kindle. You’ll see notable books from Karen Witemeyer, Roseanna White, Lisa Carter, Denise Hunter, and more.

Thank you again for taking the time to answer my questions. Before we go, can you give us an idea on what we can look forward to next in the Faith and Fortune series?
Next up is supermodel Astoria “Tori” Bell. She’s being stalked and needs a bodyguard to keep her safe. I absolutely love her story and the banter she has with her bodyguard.

Any other projects you are currently working on that you can share?
Sure can! I’m currently working on some Christmas novellas that will be released later this year. Thank you so much for having me! I enjoyed talking with you.
