Hi Mindy! Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions and giving my readers the chance to get to know you and your novel- Her Rocky Mountain Hope- a little bit better. I always like to begin these interviews the same way with something fun… tell us 5 random facts about yourself that we WON’T find in your bio!

Hmm… Let’s see. I love steak and have it for dinner at least once a week (and I always cook extra so I can have steak salads for lunch). I won’t touch coffee with a ten-foot pole, but I’m a tea junkie. I carry a pocketknife. I’ve stepped on a Copperhead and lived to tell about it. And I’m an only child.

Let’s talk writing! When did you first know that writing was what you were meant to do?

That’s an interesting story, because I was never a reader. My mom was a voracious reader of romance and I always made fun of those Barbara Cartland covers. Then, back in 2003, my mom moved in with us and brought boxes and boxes of books with her. As I went through each box, determined to get rid of as many books as possible, I noticed the covers were much more appealing. So, as most people do, I read the back-cover copy, then the first page. Next thing you know, I’m reading book after book.

One day I closed a book and realized that all those years I wasn’t reading, I was making up stories in my head. After much contemplation, I decided to try my hand at writing one of them. Nine months later, I finished my first manuscript. Yet as I worked on that secular story that will never see the light of day, God was at work in me, calling me to write for Him. Eventually, He wooed me over. And I knew that even if I never published a single book, there was a reason He called me to write. Something that surprised even my husband. When he read the first chapter I ever wrote, he said, “Where have you been keeping her?”

As a romance writer, you know how to weave a good love story… but I find that sometimes the best love stories are the real God-woven ones. Do you have your own novel worthy love story with your husband?

My husband is definitely my hero, but our love story would be a long, boring saga. It took him a long time to decide whether or not he wanted to marry me. We were both divorced, I had three young daughters… But God had a plan for that man of mine. We added two sons to our family and we’ve now been married for twenty-five years. As hubby said a few years after we were married, his life was amplified. 😉

Her Rocky Mountain Hope is your ninth publication with Love Inspired! Do you find that the excitement of publication has changed with each novel or does it still seem unbelievable at times?

In definitely seems unbelievable, and the excitement hasn’t worn off yet.

Can you tell us a little bit about Her Rocky Mountain Hope? What do you hope readers will take away from this book?

Her Rocky Mountain Hope is a story about trusting God, no matter what life throws at us. It was fun to write Daniel and Blythe’s story. He’s been an avid adventurer all his life and longs to bring a little adventure into the lives of young cancer patients. Blythe, on the other hand, has always lived life on the safe side. A former cancer survivor herself, she suddenly finds herself doing things she never imagined. Horseback riding, zip lining, falling in love…

I hope readers will not only enjoy a sweet love story but be encouraged to trust God with every aspect of their lives. Even those things they may not understand.

This is the fifth book in your Rocky Mountain Heroes series. Will readers need to have caught up on the rest of the series or can this be enjoyed as a stand alone as well?
It can definitely be enjoyed as a stand-alone. However, the readers’ curiosity may be piqued enough to make them want to go back and see how the other brothers found their happily-ever-afters.
I find that writers are so often some of the best readers too. If we were to take a look at your TBR, what might we find there?

Believe it or not, I read mostly Love Inspired books. I don’t have a lot of time to read, so I enjoy a satisfying story that won’t take me weeks to finish. I’m currently reading Ruth Logan Herne’s A Hopeful Harvest, and I recently finished Laurel Blount’s A Rancher to Trust. I highly recommend both. Up next is Belle Calhoune’s Her Secret Alaskan Family.

Thank you again for taking the time to answer my questions. Before we go, can you give us an idea on what we can look forward to next? Any projects you are currently working on that you can share?

Thanks for asking. 😊 I have a new series entitled Bliss, Texas that will launch in July with the release of the first book, A Father’s Promise. I’m currently working on book two and there will be a total of four-books.
