Young line producer Danny Byrd is well-known in Hollywood for being someone who gets things done on time and under budget. But when his reputation takes a beating after his partner--and former best friend--makes off with their investors' money, Danny has but one chance to redeem himself and restore his ruined career.

LA lawyer Megan Pierce has sacrificed years of her life proving herself to her impossible bosses only to find herself disgusted at their snobbery and their specious business practices. When an opportunity to actually make a difference comes her way, she knows she has to grab it--even though she's not entirely clear what "it" is.

Danny and Megan are each other's best hope for redemption. What they never could have imagined was that they might also be each other's best hope for love.

Based upon the description of this book (not to mention several other great reviews I'd read), I really wanted to enjoy this book. Unfortunately, I just could not get into it.

The story starts as we meet Danny Byrd in jail for a crime that he didn't commit. Right away, I was absolutely intrigued but it didn't hold my interest for long. Pretty soon, he was released from jail, had inherited a hotel... and I found myself wondering what had just happened and what I had missed. It seemed like everything happened really quickly in the beginning and I found myself a bit lost. There were also a lot of characters to keep up with and it took me a bit to really keep up with who was who. For these reasons, I just really didn't connect with the characters or the story myself.

That being said, I did enjoy the behind the scenes look at what it takes to make a (fictional) Hollywood movie. I can't speak to how accurate everything actually was as that's not my area of expertise, but it sounded very well researched and accurate to me. (I am semi familiar with LA and noticed a few familiar places being mentioned so that certainly added some credibility to the story too.) I think anyone who is interested in how movies are made might really appreciate that aspect of the story.

The writing was good, the story was interesting enough... I just couldn't get into it myself. Many have really enjoyed it and perhaps you will too! For me, it was just okay!
