Earth Day might still be a month away, but if you ask me it's always a great time to start teaching kids about taking care of the Earth! But where to begin? Perhaps one of the best places is with recycling! Recycling is such an easy change to make in our every day lives, and one that kids can easily pick up on and understand. What better place to start?

Today, I'm sharing a few simple tips to encourage kids to fall in love with recycling:

  • Watch Videos. For my kids, watching videos on any subject is a great way to get them interested. YouTube is sure to have variety of videos for all ages groups. You can find videos on the importance of or those showing just how it's done and what happens AFTER.
  • Take a Tour. Seeing recycling in action can make such a difference for kids, so take them on a tour so they can see how its done!
  • Put Them in Charge. My kids don't like 'chores' but they do love feeling like the boss! Recycling can be a great place to give them a little responsibility. Show them the ropes, and then hand over the reigns. Let them set up the bins themselves, put them in charge of keeping everyone on check, etc.
  • Get Crafty. Another great way to teach hands on recycling is by letting kids do it themselves with a re-purposing craft project! It can be as big as creating a garden from an old tire--- or as simple as some toilet paper roll crafts. Seeing 'trash' become something new and beautiful can be such a great example of what recycling is all about!
  • Reward It. Sometimes kids need that little extra motivation, so reward their efforts! Maybe that means something as simple as stickers or candy... or maybe it's allowing them to have all the money from recycling cans to put in their piggy banks. Find what works best for your child!

Ready to get jump started in recycling with your kids? The Entenmann's Little Bites® Pouch Make the Pledge Program with TerraCycle® is the perfect starting point.

Now, you're probably all already familiar with Entenmann’s Little Bites®--- offering the perfect pre-portioned pouches of delicious baked snacks, perfect for today’s families and their on-the-go needs. Whether it's a lunchbox treat or an after school snack, they certainly are a go to in my house with  year-round favorites like Chocolate Chip and Blueberry Muffin to seasonal varieties.  Little Bites® are baked soft and moist, made with real ingredients, and never contain any high fructose corn syrup... a snack that's delicious and fun.

But what is TerraCycle? TerraCycle®, an international recycling company, turns waste into plastic that can be used for products such as park benches, recycling bins and playgrounds. Pretty great, right?

They have teamed up to bring us the Make a Pledge Program, making recycling both fun AND rewarding... and pretty delicious too!

From now through April 30th, TerraCycle® and Entenmann’s Little Bites® are rewarding you for taking the pledge to make eco-friendly choices a habit. They're offering a free recycling program and asking you to collect waste such as Little Bites pouches and ship to TerraCycle for processing. They'll  even provide a pre-paid shipping labels so there is nothing out of pocket!

Fun, right? You can give your kids their favorite treat, while also teaching them a valuable lesson on recycling. But the fun doesn't stop there!
