Confession: I am not an artist.

Okay, okay... that's not much of a confession, I have mentioned this many times when speaking about Bible journaling, and it's true. I am truly not much of a natural artist. Still, I try. I am constantly looking up new techniques and trying to learn and grow. One thing that I REALLY wanted to expand on was watercolor! There is so much to do with water color, and after receiving the Illustrated Faith water color set, I knew I wanted to do them justice.

So, I was excited to have the chance to review a great new book, Everyday Watercolor:

A contemporary paint-every-day watercolor guide that explores foundational strokes and patterns and then builds new skills upon the foundations over the course of 30 days to create finished pieces.

This beautifully illustrated and inspiring guided watercolor-a-day book is perfect for beginning watercolor artists, artists who want to improve their watercolor skills, and visual creatives. From strokes to shapes, this book covers the basics and helps painters gain confidence in themselves along with inspiration to develop their own style over the course of 30 days. Featuring colorful contemporary art from Mon Voir design agency founder and Instagram trendsetter Jenna Rainey, this book's fresh perspective paints watercolor in a whole new light.

I absolutely love this book! It's perfect for the beginner like myself! It starts with the very basics of using watercolor and each day you learn something new. I cannot say that my practice attempts turned out nearly as beautiful as the author's, or that I was ready to move onto the next task on the next day... in fact I found I spent a few days on some lessons, but that's the great thing about this book. If you're a natural artist already you might find that you truly can move through it in 30 days and just improve the skills you already have. But if you're like me and truly a newbie, it's still easy enough to follow, but you CAN take longer until you feel more comfortable moving on. There's no right or wrong way. It's easy to follow, easy to understand, and quite frankly, absolutely beautiful!

If you are looking to improve your art skills, or if you have someone on your shopping list who is, this is a must see. Wrap it up with some great new watercolor paints and you're set! It is available to purchase now at your favorite book retailers.
