The Answer: New Album from Jeremy Camp {+ A Giveaway} #TheAnswer #FlyBy

Have you ever heard of the K-Love 30 Day Challenge?

If not, the concept is pretty simple... listen to nothing but Christian music for 30 days and see the impact that it has on your life.

Now, I've never actually taken the K-Love challenge, but back when I was in high school I made an even more extreme commitment as a New Year's Resolution. I resolved to listen to nothing but Christian music for a YEAR.

Now, I must admit when I made this resolution, people around me thought I was rather crazy. I was already a slight Christian music fan at that point, but my music collection varied from oldies to pop to country... I loved music, and I loved having a wide variety to choose from. Still, as a newly baptized Christian, this was something I felt strongly about, and despite the naysayers, I went for it.

Oh, what a year that was! Not only did I discover more and more contemporary Christian artists to fall in love with, but I truly felt closer to God than ever before. I wasn't getting inappropriate, negative messages so often found in more secular music. I was surrounding myself with the things we are told to-

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.- Philippians 4:8

Not only did I make it through that whole year listening only to Christian music, I actually continued well beyond that first year. I did gradually reintroduce a larger variety of music, but even now  years later you will find that my music collection consists primarily of Christian artists. I just find myself being brought closer to God as I listen, and is it any wonder? Even in the Bible we read frequently on the importance of music:

Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God. -Psalm 147:7

Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise. Sing unto the Lord with the harp; with the harp, and the voice of a psalm. -Psalm 98:4–5

There is such a power in music to meet us right where we are.

One of the Christian artists that has become a favorite throughout these years is Jeremy Camp. I actually had the chance to see him perform a few years back at Winter Jam and it was a wonderful experience. If he hadn't have been a favorite before, seeing him live certainly made it so. Needless to say, I could not wait to get my hands on his newest album, The Answer.

As I said, I've been a fan of Jeremy Camp for some time. His songs are always those songs that I could listen to again and again and never tire of. Their messages have always been those I feel like so many of us need to hear. This album definitely lived up to those expectations. I loved it! The words are as beautiful and meaningful as the songs themselves...

So many questions, the world is reaching
So many hurting, so many lost
With all this thriving, who can we lean on?
Creations crying, out from the dark
I know the answer, to every question
The one solution, to every fear
I know my helper, where it comes from

Jesus, He is the answer

Oh what a powerful message this is! One that so many need to hear. Even those of us who know Christ and know these words to be true still need that reminder every once in awhile, don't we? This song and this album provides us with just that.

The Answer will be available to purchase Friday, October 6.
