Top 5 Work Outs For Moms {+ How You Can Look Great and Save with Fabletics}

** This is a sponsored post written on behalf of Fabletics. All thoughts are 100% my own.

Hey moms... let's talk fitness!

How many of us started the year with the resolutions to get in better physical shape? We resolved to walk every day, we resolved to hit the gym 2-3 times a week. We resolve to lose weight and be healthier so that we might better be able to keep up with our kids. It truly is a great goal.

But now that we're here in April... how many of us are still going? Like many New Year's Resolutions, by now for many that well intentioned fitness goal has fallen aside. And as moms we have the best excuse in the world... our kids! We don't have time to work out! Our kids occupy all of our time and attention.

But still... we DO want to be healthier for our kids. We want to be able to chase after them without running out of breath. We want to be around to see them graduate high school, get married, have children of their own. We want to model a good example of what it means to take care of yourself and live a healthy life themselves.

So, today I'm sharing a list of my top 5 favorite ways that each of us can stay fit WITH our kids- no special trip to the gym required!

  • Walk. That's a pretty simple way to start, right? If we have itty bitties we can push them in the stroller, or wear them in a carrier for even more of a workout. Older kids can walk along beside us. Keep it fun and don't call it a workout... make it a scavenger hunt or an exploration of sorts. When my son was younger, we would go out every weekend to search for yard sales... we'd get a mile or two in AND find great deals.
  • Ride Bikes. As a child, there was nothing I loved more than riding my bike! My son is the same. So, get yourself a bike and make it a family bike ride. Bike riding is a great leg workout, but can also be great for upper body too.
  • Jump Rope. I remember when I was a kid at recess, jumping rope was one of my favorites! My 9.5 year old still loves jump roping. Now, I'm not saying that either of us are great at it, but not only is it fun,  it can be a great workout too. Jumping rope can burn 10 calories a minute... that's 200 calories for a 10 minute workout! Nice, right? It works your arms, legs, bottom and shoulders...and its fun!
  • Hula Hoop. This is another one of those activities that I loved doing as a child that truly is a great workout. In fact, it works 30 core muscles- including glutes, thighs, abs and lower back muscles. Plus, it burns 400-600 calories and hour! Get a couple of hula hoops and feel the burn!
  • Dance, Dance, Dance. Throw on some favorite tunes and have a dance party with your kids! Dancing can be a great cardio workout. It increases endurance, strength, motor fitness, even balance. And it's fun! If you have a kid that loves video games you could even add in some dancing games to better reach them too.
What I love most about each of the workouts on this list is that they aren't just beneficial for you AND your kids, but they are fun too! You'll be getting the health benefits you desire, but it won't feel like a chore...it's just playing with the kids. When you enjoy doing it, you're more motivated to keep it up!

For me, feeling confident is also a great motivator... and that can truly start with what I'm wearing.  Perhaps that seems silly or vain, but be honest- when we feel good about the way we look, doesn't it make you feel more confident in other areas too? I know it certainly does me! And so, even when working out...why not look and feel great too!
