Decorating With Intention.

I use that phrase a lot, but what does it mean?

For me, decorating with intention is all about decorating my home with the intention of bring Glory to God. Throughout my home, you'll find beautiful wall art featuring scriptures or positive messages. There are crosses, messages of love, hope and faith. Part of this is for me. When I see these messages throughout the day, I find myself encouraged and uplifted. They serve as a daily reminder to me to give thanks and trust in God.

But I also do it for my kids. I want THEM to be surrounded by these messages too so that they might take them in and remember them as they go out in the world where the influences are not so Godly. Still, sometimes I find myself wondering--- are they even paying attention?

A few days ago, my son showed me that yes, he truly is, and that my decorating with intention IS making a difference. He came to me and he stated, "My sister is beautiful because God created her...and everything beautiful begins with God." Such a sweet statement that it nearly brought tears to my eyes. But where did it come from? For years, the first thing you see as you walk into our home is a gorgeous lawn sign that I'd gotten from Dayspring several years ago boasting one of my personal favorite scriptures, "Everything beautiful begins with God." We'd recently had to move the sign due to plumbing work, and my son took notice of it. With just that simple statement, I realized that my decorating with intention is paying off and he IS paying attention. Now more than ever I will strive to continue doing so and encourage all of you to consider doing the same!
