The Power of Music: Joy Enriquez' The Call CD Review & Giveaway #FCBlogger

**Album received for review. All thoughts are my own.

I love music!

There truly is something amazing about the power a good song can have on us. They can lift our spirits, and make us get up and dance. They can take us back to another time and place. They can make us feel less alone. They can make us feel as though someone is reaching into our inner most thoughts and putting them out there in the lyrics they sing. A great song truly can touch people.

I find this to be especially true with Christian music. When you find a song that speaks so beautifully everything you want to say, it can feel like a conversation with God. A prayer for strength or a song of praise. This is why Christian music is my favorite, it is music that truly can make a difference, music that means something important. So, I am always looking for new artists and songs to love.

Today, I'm excited to introduce you to one such album: Joy Enriquez' The Call.

Once poised to become the next big thing in the pop/R&B realm, Joy Enriquez is now following her true calling with The Call. Combining well-crafted songs and stellar vocals, Enriquez delivers a truly inspiring album.

Now, while Joy Enriquez was new to me, she may not be quite so new to all of you. She had a hit single in 2000 with the r&b/pop song Tell Me How You Feel! Despite her success in that genre, she felt that it wasn't her calling, and made the change to Christian music. Can we just take a minute to think about how amazing that is? I mean honestly, I love Christian music more than anything else, but when it comes to fame and fortune? Well, that's not where it's most likely to happen. To me, that makes this album all the better- knowing she turned from that because THIS was what she felt God truly wanted for her. I think this is something that we can all learn from, isn't it?

Aside from that, the album is amazing anyway! Typically, when doing an album review such as this one, I listen to each song and try to find those one or two that really stuck out to me. Maybe it was a beat I loved, or a lyric that gave me goosebumps. But as I listened, I found I loved each and every song. It's such a positive, uplifting album and the lyrics are just on point. I wish I could share each and every one, but since I cannot, here is just a taste.

Conquer

Brighter than the fire, I'm fighting
Higher than the mountain, I'm climbing

Shout louder than the thunder, I'm stronger
No matter what, I'll conquer, I will conquer
So I'll take your hand
Where you lead I'll follow, I'll go
And I'll learn to dance
When the sun shines, or in the storm

Cuz I know

Shelter

I'll be your shelter
I'll be your fortress, and your guide
I'll be your shelter

I'm by your side

Every tear you've cried, I've counted
Every storm that came your way, I felt the rain
And when your broken heart was lost, I found it
No I will never walk away

As I said, this is really just a very small taste of all the amazing lyrics on this album. Each song is just as beautifully written, and the album in whole really just gives you that sense of peace- like everything will be okay and that you are not alone in whatever you are going through. Let's be honest, throughout our lives, we are each going to hit those rough patches where things just don't go our way and we feel like things will never get better. This album truly is a must listen to during those moments. Beautiful, touching, perfect.
