Decorate Your Home For St. Patrick's Day with a DIY Wreath + Free Printable #FCBlogger

A huge thank you to Family Christian for sponsoring today's craft! My love of St. Patrick's Day decor is all my own!

With children named Shaun and Finley, perhaps many of you have already come to the assumption that we have a little bit of an Irish heritage. And if you did, you'd be absolutely right! And I'm quite proud of that Irish heritage! I love Celtic designs- knots, claddagh, crosses- I hope to one day have the opportunity to travel to Ireland. So naturally, I love St. Patrick's day and cannot wait to bring a little Irish flair into our home decor!

Want to bring in a little fun decor for St. Patrick's Day? Here are a few very simple ways:

Bring on the Green.

The easiest way to decorate your home for St. Patrick's Day is to bring out the green... it doesn't have to be St. Patrick's day specific, just use what you have. Have a favorite green mixing bowl? Use it as centerpiece on your kitchen table...throw is some granny smith apples...it's decorative, and delicious! Break out a fun green throw, accent pillows or candle holders. The possibilities are endless.

Celtic Crosses

I just love Celtic crosses, throughout the year but especially for St. Patrick's Day. Find fun Celtic cross items like this stunning Bible or this rosary. Display them on your coffee table for a subtle Irish look.

Bring in the Kids.

There is nothing better than letting your little ones have fun decorating...make green chains to adorn the walls...or mix it up with some rainbow designs!

Irish Blessings.

When I think of Irish decor, I cannot help but think of Irish Blessings. A quick web search will provide you with a large variety of options to choose from. Find one you like and create a fun printable. Or download and print this one that I created!

DIY Wreath

Wreaths aren't just for Christmas anymore! They can be used for any season...like this super fun St. Patrick's Day wreath (with changeable decor) I created!

Want to create your own? Here's how:

Supplies:

  • Wreath Form
  • Yarn
  • Ribbon
  • Shamrocks/Decor of Choice (I made mine with Pony Beads using this technique. Shamrocks not your thing? Consider rainbows or coins, Celtic crosses or a leprechaun hat. Get Creative!)
  • Velcro

  1. Start by wrapping the wreath form in yarn of your choice. You could go with a vibrant kelly green, a neon green or even white for more contrast. Personally, I chose white so that the green would really pop...and because I'm creating this using changeable decor, I knew that white could be perfect for a number of events! (Hint: Use Glue and/or tie knot at your starting point to hold your yarn in place. If it's easier, consider cutting smaller workable strands of yarn.) Keeping wrapping your form until it is covered completely. This will be the most time consuming part of the whole project, I promise, it's easier from here!

  2. Now that your wreath form is wrapped, the fun begins! Time to decorate! Again, I had made my own adorable shamrocks and crosses using pony beads, a cookie cutter and my oven using this technique. If you have the extra beads on hand, this is a fun option...but feel free to get creative. Cut your own shamrocks from felt or foam, or buy precut ones at your local craft store. Or go with a different St. Patrick's Day inspired look. Because I love to decorate for all holidays, but want to do so on a budget, I used velcro to attach. Once St. Patrick's Day is over, I can remove and create Easter designs instead!

  3. If you like the way your wreath look at this point, you could consider it done. But for a little more fun and color, I love the idea of adding in some ribbon. Use plain green, something festive and St. Patrick's Day specific, or mix it up with a rainbow look! I decided to use my ribbon for the hanger, but for a more traditional wreath, feel free to just add a fun bow! (I again used velcro for the ribbon to make it easier to change out throughout the year!)
  4. Hang and enjoy! Super easy and now your home is ready for St. Patrick's Day!

  1. I love the fact that the shamrock can be interchangeable. I could make the wreath once, then have a few accessories to change it up. Super cute!

  2. What a fantastic idea to be able to change out the shamrock! I could have a different accessory for every month!

  3. The iPhone 7S will act as the perfect bridge between the last generation iPhones that we saw till 2016 and the next level iPhone 8 that we are all looking forward to. But will we see the iPhone 7S and the iPhone 8 being released together, or a year apart as has been the norm up until now? Can’t wait for Apple to make an announcement! iPhone 7S Features
