Made in the USA...what comes to mind when you hear those words? For many of us, it may be hard to come up with a company that is made in America...but when I hear those words, my mind goes straight to one of my personal favorite cloth diaper companies- Thirsties!!

A few months ago, I shared a review on Thirsties One Size Pocket Diapers. These wonderful diapers quickly became one of my favorite pockets, and still remain so. Today, I am excited to share with you another fabulous diaper from Thirsties- their Duo All In One!!

Design & Functionality

I'm going to be entirely honest right now- of all the diaper types out there that I've tried, all-in-ones were probably my least favorite. When I made the decision to use cloth with my older son, over six years ago, I went with what seemed to be the simplest option- all in ones. They worked well, that wasn't the problem- they were just super bulky and took FOREVER to dry. Sure, they were convenient, but I kept that experience in my head when my daughter came around and decided to avoid all-in-ones this time around. What I failed to realize is that not all all-in-ones are created equal! Thirsties Duo AIOs have changed my anti-AIO ways! So, why the change of heart?

They feature a unique tunnel design that eliminates two of the common complaints heard of all-in-ones. First of all, my complaint- the dry time! This unique designs helps dry faster! Don't get me wrong, they naturally still take longer to dry than a cover or perhaps even some pockets might- but not to the extent I've seen with others. The second is the ability to adjust absorbency. One of the great benefits of all in twos or pockets is that you can adjust the absorbency to your needs. All in ones don't typically give you that option. The tunnel designs allows you to add more stuffing...almost like a pocket! It absorbs wonderfully on it's own but for overnight or heavy wetters, the addition of a Thirties hemp insert can make it even better!

I found the fit to be MUCH trimmer than the bulky old things I used on my son! They come in two sizes: the size one fits babies 6-18 pounds and the size two fits from 18-40. This sized system allows for a trimmer fit than what a one size would allow. The stay-dry microfleece keeps baby feeling dry and is super soft against their sensitive skin. They come in your choice of hook and loop or my personal preference-snaps! They fit well and worked great for our girl! Being an all-in-one also means they are super easy to use- even for the non-cloth-diapering diaper changer!

Style

Thirsties Duo All-In-Ones come in all the great colors and prints that I loved in the OS Pockets! Their prints are cute, but not over the top. I loved the Hoot I received for review, and am a huge fan of Polka Dance and Blackbird as well. The colors are bright and vibrant. Absolutely adorable!

Price

Another downfall of many all in ones is that they are one of the more expensive cloth diaper types out there. But that's not true for Thirsties! In fact, at just $16.50, they are actually cheaper than many pockets! However, being sized diapers they will not last from birth to potty training like a one size. Still, the sizes cover a very broad range, so you would only have to buy two sizes during your babies diaper days!

Overall, I was really thrilled with these diapers and would love to add more to our collection!

In addition to the all-in-one, I also received a package of their amazing hemp inserts in a size large. These are larger than the hemp inserts that come in the one size pockets, but works just as well. They are great for switching out the microfiber that typically comes with pockets...or doubling up for nighttime...or even in covers! I loved using these with the all in one for overnights...or wrapped in flour sack towels in a cover! These are truly AMAZING!

  1. If I could get an entire stash of AIO's that would be awesome! But generally speaking, I prefer AI2's with snap-in inserts.

  2. Blackbird is my favorite! I like all in ones because they're so user-friendly for leaving babies with parents/friends/babysitters/etc. And they're easy for you too when you're so not in the mood for some complicated process lol.

  14. I'd choose the polka dance print. We are expecting our first and about to start cloth diapering. We'll be using mostly prefolds, flats and covers and have some thirsties covers waiting. AIOs look easy and convenient to use so we will be trying some of those when he gets a bit bigger. We decided to use mostly prefolds and flats to keep costs down and because they are easier and faster to wash and dry.
