***************************

When I was pregnant with and breastfeeding my son, finding a great maternity/nursing bra was a challenge. I'd bought a few inexpensive ones during my pregnancy at the local maternity store and was not impressed with those at all- they weren't lined, didn't seem to offer much support and just didn't wow me. A few months into nursing I once again looked into finding something and again, not much luck. After much searching I did find a simple nursing bra that at least fit my needs (support, coverage, etc) and bought several of that one bra to get us through our time nursing...but though it did the job, it wasn't cute! I know, I know...the only people seeing it are myself and the husband anyway, so did it really matter that much? Probably not...but doesn't every woman deserve to feel a little glamorous from head to toe? I think so! Unfortunately, nursing bras and glamour don't often seem to go hand in hand. This is why, as we prepare for the arrival of baby number two, I was super excited to learn about Cake Lingerie- a company that offers maternity and nursing bras that are not only comfortable, but stylish and yes, even SEXY as well!

For this review, Cake Lingerie generously sent me their Toffee Clear Strapless Maternity Bra and the matching Toffee French Knicker.

This particular bra and panty set is perhaps one of the more plain and simple sets offered by Cake Lingerie- no fancy lace, etc...but I knew I wanted something that was perfect for every day wear, so the subtle feminine details of the bows were absolutely ideal for what I was looking for. I also cannot stand unlined bras- particularly when nursing- who wants to see lumpy nursing pads through your top? That is not a problem at all with this bra! Not only is it fully lined, the lining is absolutely adorable with a surprise pink floral pattern! How fun! Another key feature that I loved is the option of wearing strapless. Throughout my pregnancy with this summer heat, I've found myself wearing a lot of tank tops and dresses that require a strapless bra. I intend to wear many of these dresses post pregnancy as well...so having a bra that I can wear with these clothes is wonderful! And as a bonus, they include extra straps as well (because if you're anything like me, those things tend to disappear easily!). Overall, this bra covers all my key needs- while still being super cute! I can certainly see this becoming my go to bra throughout the remainder of my pregnancy and nursing experience. But of course, when it comes to nursing bras- style is not the only important thing to look at- it also needs to fit well, be comfortable and easy to use!

I was admittedly a little nervous about what size to order- bra shopping online is already difficult enough as it is- add in the inevitable changes your body goes through during those final weeks of pregnancy, postpartum and throughout nursing...it can confuse anyone! Being smaller up top than many nursing moms, I often found it a challenge to find nursing bras in my size anyway, but Cake Lingerie offers a large variety of sizes- this particular bra is available in band sizes 32-38 and cup sizes B-H.  They also offer a great sizing guide on their website, which I used, and was quite happy with the results. I definitely advise paying close attention to that. (Also, as a side note, I recommend NOT buying ALL your nursing bras before baby comes- just one or two for the beginning, and then more once your supply becomes more stable!) The size I went with fits wonderfully now, in my 9th month of pregnancy, while still allowing room for growth in those early days of nursing! And unlike many typical bras that offer just three adjustments on the band size, this bra offers SIX- making it ideal for use throughout pregnancy and nursing as your body changes- without having to continually purchase another new bra! It is extremely comfortable as well...again, perfect for every day wear! (As are the matching underwear of course!)

And finally, ease of use...there is nothing you want to deal with more in those early days of nursing when you're still learning the ropes than tricky hooks or cups that don't fold down easily. Though our baby girl is not yet here as I write this review, I have tried and found it to be incredibly easy to unsnap...I've come across a few in the past that just would not unsnap easily or require two hands. Not fun with a squirmy, hungry baby, right? I was able to unsnap easily with just one hand and I know nursing in this will be a breeze!!

Overall, I am extremely happy with my Cake Lingerie Nursing Bra...seriously, where was this when I was nursing my son!? It's cute, comfortable, practical...definitely a must have for any mom planning to breastfeed! And if you're looking for something a little fancier (perhaps for an upcoming date night with the husband?), Cake Lingerie has you covered! Who says you cannot be sexy and feminine while breastfeeding anyway!? You can check out everything they have to offer and connect with them at the links below:
