Milspouse Friday Fill-In (& A Few Random Tidbits!)

I haven't filled one of these out in awhile (really, I think I've only done it maybe once before), so I thought I'd do one today. But first a few bits of information:

I mentioned in my last couple posts that we may be moving in the near future, so I wanted to just briefly elaborate. A week ago, we found out that my husband has been flagged for recruiting. I know some of you reading this are feeling sorry for us right now, it's a very difficult and high stress job, BUT he's actually been wanting this for awhile now. He needs a break from deploying, and with a child with autism, who doesn't handle changes well, he needs a break too. Again, we know it's not an easy job and have no illusions it will be, but we're used to long hours and we've discussed at length how to make time for us and to support each other in this new adventure. Our hope is that we will be closer to home (not that we can get much further!), but that's not guaranteed. We may be further, we may even stay here...who knows! Right now there are no orders in hand so nothing is for sure right now. We only know that he's been flagged. (We're also hoping the class won't be for awhile, again, my son cannot handle him coming home only to leave again so soon.) Of course, it comes with some mixed emotions, we love our friends and house here and Shaun has an amazing class that we LOVE...so it's bittersweet. So anyway, that's our news. Prayers that everything works out are greatly appreciated.

Another little tidbit: As many of you remember awhile back, I was nominated to be considered as one of Circle of Moms Top 25 Military Family Blogs...and thanks to your support and votes, I made the list! The final list will be featured next month, but I need something from you guys first, in my little questionnaire I have to fill out, I'm asked for 3 adjectives to describe this blog, would love to hear your thoughts on this! Just leave them in a comment, or e-mail: randi.amoderndayfairytale@gmail.com! Thanks for your help in advance!!

Okay, now onto the fill-in:

1. When you vacation what type of vacation do you like to take (beach, historic, adventurous, food oriented, etc.)?

Honestly, we don't do typical vacations! When my husband has leave (which is really only pre or post deployment or the holidays), we always go home. This year, for my husband's post deployment leave, it will actually be the first time we won't be going back. (My son cannot handle being out of therapy/school and all the travel so soon again, so as much as we'd love to go home, we have to do what's best for him.) We have a lot of things we'd love to do during this time- such as Disney- but if you read my last post, that's still uncertain too!

2. What is your best memory associated with a song (you know we all have tons!)?

Hmmm, this is tough! I have many great ones, I can't narrow it down to just one!!
'Feels Like Home' Chantal Kreviazuk- This is the first song my husband and I danced to, so it naturally always makes me think of that moment, and him in general.

'If I Didn't Have Love' John Martin Keith- This reminds me of a moment with my best friend Erica that was actually a very sad and emotional moment, but a reminder that she's there for me even in my worst moments!

And I have several that remind me of various memories with my other best friend Brittany- including 'Lady Marmalade', 'I've Had The Time of My Life', 'Thriller'...just to name a few:)

3. If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with your time?

Hmm...I cannot imagine not having any obligations! Seriously...my son needs 24/7 supervision, but I wouldn't trade him for anything:)

4. What is one thing about you that people do NOT typically notice at first that you wish they would?

Well I don't know if there's anything that they don't NOTICE, but I have two common misconceptions when people first meet me. The first, many still assume that I am a teen mom. Seriously...or the babysitter, or big sister...I've gotten them all. It's really quite frustrating! I'm 23 years old (almost 24) and people still think I'm 16! At least this will be nice when I'm older;) However, being a young mom and looking younger, it does sometime seem like people don't expect me to be a good mom, which I am. The constant public tantrums don't help, but such is the life with autism. The other is that many people also think I'm stuck up or don't like them. I am very quiet. I have social anxiety and starting conversations and making friends is very difficult for me so I don't usually talk much in social situations until I get to know people a little better. I am perfectly content to sit back and listen rather than jump into conversations, but I'm actually very friendly (I like to think) and like pretty much everyone! Really!

5. It’s a summer of sequels, and if you had to live in one of each of the following “worlds” (there are three total) which would you choose and why?

X-Men: Be a Mutant, what would your power be? Okay, I cannot remember what their powers are. Haha. That's sad...hmmmm...
–Harry Potter: Be a Witch or Muggle? I blame Brittany that I even know what these mean! ha! But I'd go with witch, I think!
–Twilight: Be a Vampire or Werewolf? Who would want to be a werewolf really? I'd definitely have to go vampire on this one...but not a sparkly one...that's just crazy...don't even get me started! (Really, I'd prefer to be Buffy;))
