Proud Mommies

Fact of the day: Mommies love to talk about their little ones.
It's true, I don't think I've met any mother who doesn't jump at the chance to share their little ones accomplishments with anyone who wants to know (and perhaps some that don't!). I am no exception, if Shaun does something impressive or just super cute and funny, I'm dying to share with anyone who will listen. My Facebook friends can vouch for that, what an easy outlet for us proud mommies to brag about our little ones.
I also enjoy reading the cute things my friends children do as well, but if I were being completely honest, I will say that its sometimes upsetting to read about the full 2-way conversations that little ones Shaun's age, younger even, have with their mommies. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for those children, but it's just a reminder of how far behind Shaun still is. Still, I have to keep looking ahead and not worrying about those things. Shaun may not be where he should be for his age, but he has made leaps and bounds from where he was and that to me is more important than anything. I have faith that he will continue to learn and grow and that one day I will ask a question and he will answer, or even better he'll ask me a question and we'll have a real conversation. And when that day comes I will share it with the world...and there will be cake!
We just have to keep working and he will get there one word at a time. Until then, I will just have to continue to brag that he's the only 2.5 year old I know who can memorize full movie scenes and repeat them on his own...how's that for genius!?
