I Am Brave: Devotions, Questions, and Quizzes for Brave Girls {A Holiday Gift Guide Review + Giveaway} #IAmBraveDevotional #TommyNelson

**I received a complimentary copy of this book through Frontgate Media for consideration. All thoughts are 100% my own.

It's a tough time to be a tween. Body image struggles, peer pressure, social media, and confusion about what truth is and why it matters can make growing up harder than ever. How do you stand firm in what you believe? What does it mean to be brave in your faith? What does it look like to love others? Finding answers to the most challenging questions can help tween girls thrive as they grow into brave young women of God.

I Am Brave invites girls ages 8–12 to join the Brave Girls—Hope, Glory, Faith, Gracie, and Honor—as they grow closer to God every day. The latest book in the popular Brave Girls series, I Am Brave includes journaling prompts, devotions, and lots of great questions to help girls learn more about who God is and who they are.

The Brave Girls are ordinary girls who are stronger and more courageous because of God's love and guidance. I Am Brave will help your own young reader speak up for truth, stand up for faith and live out the real meaning of godly bravery.

If you ask me, being a tween is one of the hardest ages. They still have so much of the innocence of childhood, but are starting to grow into teenagers and facing those social challenges that come along with that. It's just an awkward all around time. I see this with my tween son, but I know for girls there can be even more challenges they face at this age. For this reason, it is more important than ever to encourage our kids to get into the habit NOW of spending time with God on a daily basis. This book can be such a great tool in helping them to do so.

As I looked through this devotional, I was reminded very much of the American Girl (nonfiction) books that I enjoyed as a tween/young teenager. These books had a big emphasis on self esteem and relationships, but rather than being filled with lectures, etc were made fun with quizzes, questionnaires and fun activities. That is just what we find in I Am Brave. While there are certainly some more traditional devotions throughout as well, in between you will find a wide variety of fun stuff that girls are sure to love. There are opportunities to make lists, to doodle, and to reflect on their faith. Each section- whether it be an activity or devotion starts with a Bible verse to lead into that day's reading or activity. Some days are more lighthearted--- listing favorites or drawing a picture of yourself, whereas others really encourage girls to think more about God. I think in having this wide variety, girls will enjoy coming back to it again and again. I know I certainly would have at that age.  The fun page design certainly helps too with lots of pink, sparkle and cute illustrations throughout.

While my daughter is not yet old enough to appreciate everything this book has to offer, it is one that I am certainly going to look forward to giving her when she reaches that stage.

If you have a tween girl in your life, this is one devotional you will certainly want to check out!
