I loved reading. Growing up in the middle of nowhere, I loved going off on this far off adventures and meeting new people with every turn of the page. My favorites were often those that told stories of big imaginations and using those to escape less than ideal circumstances--- classics like The Secret Garden and A Little Princess.
But perhaps my absolute favorite book was Julie Andrews' first novel 'Mandy'.
For those unfamiliar with the story, Mandy is the story of an orphan girl who sneaks out of the orphanage in which she was living and discovers a small cottage that has been abandoned, just over the wall. She spends her days making that little cottage into the home that she always dreamed of having--- her own.
Though I cannot say that I remember every detail of the story, I remember being able to envision it so perfectly in my head. We read these words and the beautiful details in which they are written, and envision these scenes and characters as we imagine them in our heads.
Perhaps this is why so many of us get excited to see movie made about our childhood--- or our adult--- favorites. We want to see how others interpret it... how the images we imagined compare to what comes to the movie. Sometimes it's very similar... and other times it's far from our own visions, but either way its fascinating to see. I remember as a girl, I loved seeing those other classic favorites come to life through film, but I always thought that Mandy would have made a fantastic film too. I would have loved to see that little cabin brought to life, and to see the characters that I so loved in 'real life'. Oh, what an amazing adventure!

Like I said, we can't help but be drawn in when our favorite books come to life, so is it any wonder the excitement that surrounds the new release of 'A Wrinkle in Time', based upon the beloved classic by the same name. Take a look:
