Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family {A Book Review & Giveaway}

I love being a mother.

Truly, there is nothing greater in this world. But that doesn't mean it's always easy! In fact, sometimes it's downright HARD. So often I found myself questioning if I'm doing this whole parenting thing right! I want to raise my children to be good people, but how do I do that?

The good news is, we DO have a guidebook for everything life sends our way. The Bible. But how does the Bible teach us about parenting? How do we apply the principles taught to our parenting? With Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family, we can better figure that out-

What is your calling as a parent?

In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything “right” and raise up “good” children, it’s easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas.

In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God’s plan for us as parents. Outlining fourteen foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques. Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God—grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents.

Freed from the burden of trying to manufacture life-change in our children’s hearts, we can embrace a grand perspective of parenting overflowing with vision, purpose, and joy.

If you are a Christian parent, this book is a must read. I've read many parenting books throughout the years and many are really great, but many take on a more secular worldview. That is not to say that we cannot learn from those other books as well, but as a Christian mom, I also want to be certain that I am parenting my children that not only glorifies God, but brings them closer to Him as well. That is just what this book provides. It helps us to take the principles that we learn in the Bible and apply them to our parenting. It offers practical advice, but keeps the focus on God, as parenting should be.

  2. What great timing. I've been struggling with parenting my children over the last few years, especially my youngest. I was just thinking about looking into some of the author's other books. Money's tight as usual though, so this would be amazing.
