Would a Worm Go On a Walk? Teaching Kids About God's Creations {A Book Review & Giveaway} #WormOnAWalk #Flyby

Would a worm go on a walk?

That seems like a silly question, right? Of course a worm wouldn't go on a walk...they have no legs! But this is just the type of silly questions that the new children's book of the same title asks us about all kinds of animals. Take a look:

About the book:
“Would a worm go on a walk, if you could lead him down the street? / Would he wear his tiny tennies, if he had two worm-sized feet?”
So begins this humorous and imaginative picture book that introduces children to the idea that animals are uniquely created by a loving and wise God. Would a Worm Go on a Walk?, with its colorful, comical illustrations, is a fresh, fun way to teach young children that God created all things very good. He gave all the animals, and children, too, wonderful qualities and unique strengths. Children will giggle over the ridiculous scenarios presented, and they will come away with the knowledge that we all are loved and special.

This story truly is so much fun! Immediately, my kids were drawn in by the funny rhymes and the silly illustrations.... especially my almost 3-year-old daughter! With every page, we found a new silly question about God's creations. Worms wearing tennis shoes? Pigs playing piano? Or my daughter's personal favorite- ladybugs wearing lipstick!? We could not help but laugh at the silliness! But when we got to the end, we saw that it wasn't just silliness, but it was a fantastic lesson too. We learned that these animals might not do these silly things that are asked about in the book, but they do do many great things. They do just the things that God created them to do.

On the one hand, this is a cute little reminder that God created everything, period. But beyond that it really is a fantastic thing to remember...that despite all of the different abilities and talents that we were each given, that we were created just how God intended us to be. As a mom to a special needs child, I happen to think this is truly an amazing lesson to teach children. It is a FUN and silly way to start the conversation at a young age about how each of us are given different talents. Each of us are given different weaknesses. Each of us are made just a little bit different, but what we may lack in one area, we make up for in another. Worms may not be able to walk, but they were created by God with a purpose in mind...just like each and every one of us! What better lesson would we ask for?

This fun story has already become a favorite in my household. We've read it over and over again, and still find ourselves enjoying it each time! Definitely a must see for the Christian family! You can purchase your own copy here.
