Wonderland: A Coloring Book Inspired By Alice's Adventures {A Review}

**I received a copy of this book for review. All thoughts are my own.

It's no secret by now that I love adult coloring books, is it?

Love might not be strong enough...perhaps a little bit obsessed is more accurate!!

There truly is something about that simple act of coloring that can take you right back to your childhood. Don't we all need a little bit of that? A break from bills? A break from stresses? A break for adulting...for just at a few minutes at least! For so many of us, that is just what these coloring books provide! What better way to escape the real world for a bit than to escape to Wonderland?

Today, I'm excited to share with you a fabulous new coloring book that will allow you to do just that, Wonderland-A Coloring Book Inspired by Alice's Adventures by Amily Shen:

Follow the White Rabbit into this imaginative coloring book inspired by Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, featuring intricate pen-and-ink drawings by acclaimed artist Amily Shen. Meet the Cheshire Cat, attend the Mad Hatter's tea party, and play croquet with the Queen of Hearts in this evocative tale that invites you into a strange and beautiful new world of coloring.

When I was a kid choosing coloring books usually meant going with a character I loved... like Disney princesses for example! For my own kids, it's the same. My daughter usually reaches for princesses or Minnie Mouse where my son goes for Thomas or Minions. Why should that change as we grow up? With this coloring book, we don't have to. Alice in Wonderland is one of those stories that people of all ages love! Both my kids and myself enjoy the old Disney cartoon...even my husband enjoys it! It's a timeless story of magic and whimsy that truly is reflected beautifully in this coloring book!

When I sit down to color, I find I often have two different extremes that I go to. When I don't have a ton of time or when my hands are bothering me (as they often do), I want something that is a little more simple... basic details that are beautiful but a little easier on me as a colorer. At other times I have a little more time to devote to it and really want to get into those finer details that many adult coloring books are known for. I felt that this coloring book had a pretty good balance of both rolled into one. Some pages are more intricate while others were a little more simple.

There are 80 pages to color, and all of them are absolutely beautiful. The pages are high quality and thick, which is a quality I personally look for in my coloring books. I cannot speak to how the pages do with bleeding markers, as I tend to prefer using colored pencils myself, but they seem as though they would do okay! Throughout these pages, you will find all of these fantastical creatures that we all know and love from Alice in Wonderland. But more than just coloring pages, it tells the story too... it's not a detailed story but rather a shortened and paraphrased snippet, but together with the images truly works to retell this amazing tale!

Wonderland is available to purchase now.

  8. I got a few coloring books for Christmas and love them! This one looks so pretty! My 5 year old would try to take it from me I'm sure!! She really seems to like the adult coloring books over the more child centered ones! I think she thinks the smaller lines are challenging. lol!
