Mia Mariu Giveaway

As moms, we work hard each and every day and deserve a little pampering! So for today's giveaway, I am excited to share a fun product that will allow moms to have just that- Jamberry Nails!

For those who have not yet heard of this company, Jamberry Nails is a direct sales company that sells a large variety of super fun and stylish nail wraps that can be applied at home!! If you love having cute nails, but don't have a steady hand for fancy nail art, or time and money to have it done professionally, Jamberry Nails is a great solution!!

For this review, my wonderful new sponsor Jackie Reese, Independent Jamberry Nails Consultant sent me two sheets to try out- the Peacock and Teal Sparkle Wraps! How absolutely stunning are these wraps?

To be entirely honest, I was really nervous to try these out. I don't have the steadiest hand, can barely cut a straight line, and just am not great with things like this, so I really worried that I would mess them up completely. I will say that my first attempt did not turn out as great as they could have, BUT they turned out much better than expected too. By the second hand they started looking better, and I can certainly see the next tries getting better and better. It takes a little practice (for me anyway), but really was quite easy to apply!! (And I was given the hint from a friend afterward to perhaps practice first by applying to toenails, as they tend to be easier until you get the hang of it...sounds like a great idea to me!) Here are the directions straight from the website:

Jamberry Nail Shields are designed to be easily applied in a salon or at home.
Step 1: Clean nails with nail polish remover or alcohol. (Clean, oil free nails are one of the most important steps of the application)
Step 2: Cut and file nails to desired length and shape.
Step 3: Buff top of the nail and push back cuticle.
Step 4: Match nail (finger or toe) to the nail shield that best fits.
Step 5: Peel off nail shield and warm with a blow-dryer 10-15 seconds or until soft and flexible.
Step 6: When warm, press the shield onto the nail.  Apply firm pressure around edges to adhere the shield to the nail.  Use rubber cuticle pusher to seal the shield around the cuticle.
Step 7:  Trim the top with scissors and file off remaining shield using a downward motion to remove excess.
Step 8: Apply heat and pressure to the shield again until it is sealed to the nail. (Repeating this step several times helps create a tight seal to the nail surface and increases wear time)
Optional  Step 9: For active users you can add a small amount of nail glue to the free edge to better seal the nail shield.
How to Remove:Use hair dryer to heat for 15 seconds and slowly peel from the corner of your nail
As you can see, I didn't do the best job of trimming on my first attempt, lesson learned...but they still look wonderful, and DO look better in person (not so up close) as well!

See, not too difficult, right? A little more time consuming than applying a simple coat of polish of course- but so much more beautiful...and I just love that there's no drying time. I still was careful after applying the wraps- out of habit more than anything, but I loved not having to worry about messing up wet nails or not being able to pick up anything, etc...for moms this is especially important...it never fails that as soon as the nails are done, there is a child needing something!! The application time might be a bit longer, but being able to go on about my business just after is a definite plus...I even took a short break between hands to respond to some e-mails...something I would not have been able to do with nail polish!! Each sheet costs just $15 and comes with a variety of sizes, and should be good for 2-3 applications. And you don't have to worry about chipping...when you're ready to take off, you simply just heat and peel the whole thing off!! Super easy!!

But I know many of you are wondering the same thing I wondered- how well do they hold up? Well, first of all let me just preface by saying that proper application is key...which means trimming around the cuticle and on the sides (making sure it doesn't touch the skin), getting enough heat and pressure, etc. As I already mentioned, I did not do such a great job with the trimming, so I did not expect them to last long at all. Still, at the time of writing, I've been wearing a couple days and have only lost one shield (again, just due to improper application, it was touching quite a lot of my pinky from not being trimmed well). The others have held up really well even despite that...I even did a deep clean of my washer and dryer while wearing them and still good...it would have been chip central had I done that with my nails simply painted.
I also want to add that I was a bit concerned on damage to the nails when they came off...but the one that was removed came off very easily, no damage whatsoever. So, if you're like me and don't like putting things on your nails that might damage them (like fake nails), there is no reason to worry!!

Overall, I was really happy with Jamberry Nails...like I said, I personally need a little more practice applying, but it wasn't difficult and they are gorgeous regardless. They also come in a LARGE variety of styles for every style and occasion...they even make an Autism Awareness wrap that I LOVE!

If you love what you see and want to order- please check out Jackie's website here. You can also learn more about hosting a party and earning some great product free, or signing up to start your very own Jamberry Nails business!! And don't forget to check her out on Facebook as well!

Disclosure: I received the products mentioned above in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are 100% my own.

  2. I would love to win this for my mom. I remember her having the most beautiful nails when I was growing up. To this day, she still takes great care of them and I imagine she would just love being able to put some of these beautiful patterns on her nails. I'm a huge font fan so I really like the one called Alphabet.
