What I'm Loving Wednesday- Autism/Special Needs Edition!

Linking up with Jamie once again for WILW. This is what I'm loving this week:

I'm loving that today is Spread The Word To End The Word Day. For those who do not know, this is a campaign to end the use of the r-word (retarded) as a means to insult others. You can read more on why this issue is so important to me here. I am glad that so many are taking the pledge today and every day. It always breaks my heart when I hear this word being thrown about...and even worse when I hear jokes being made about special ed, the short bus, etc...why is it okay to belittle someone because they were born differently? It shouldn't be. I will end this here, though I could go on and on, but if you're interested in reading more check out the link above or visit the Facebook page for this campaign.

I am loving last night's episode of Parenthood! Oh my goodness, I didn't make it 5 minutes without bawling! Such a great show and it seems like this season they have really been making an effort to accurately educate people on autism. Changes in routines, public meltdowns, etc etc...they're covering it. I love it. If you haven't watched it yet, I highly recommend it! It's on Tuesday on NBC, but I think you can watch it online as well!

Ok...when I started writing this I wasn't intending for all of my loves to have this common theme, but well, just so happens they do...so might as well go with it;) So...

I'm also loving James Durbin on American Idol. He has a diagnosis of Asperger's and Tourette's but the man can work the stage...like wow! He would stand out without any of these hardships behind him but when you consider that he's had to overcome so much more to be there, it's pretty inspiring. I am really glad that there are (current) role models for kids on the spectrum to look up to and show the world that they can accomplish anything!

I'm loving the new autism scentsy warmer that came out yesterday (yes, I know I already made a whole post about it, but I'm still loving it!) and I can't wait to buy mine! 100% of the proceeds go to Autism Speaks, so if you'd like to donate money to the cause, why not have a great smelling house too? Ask your scentsy consultant about it- if you don't have one and would like to buy- there is a link to my online party on the left side of my blog, under my about me!

And most importantly, I am loving this boy, he is my everything. Despite his struggles, I would not trade him for anything in this world. His autism is just part of who he is and makes him the sweet, intelligent, amazing boy that he is!! God has big plans for him, I know it!
